Election 2008You are in: Guernsey > States of Guernsey > Election 2008 > David de Lisle ![]() David De Lisle. David de LisleDavid de Lisle is a candidate standing for election in the West district. Since elected I have taken a proactive approach to progressing matters of public concern by:
I have raised awareness of environmental issues and brought them onto the States agenda and was elected Minister of Environment by my peers. I voted to delay Zero Ten by one year in order to save the Island £100 million. The Zero Ten Tax Structure needs modification. It has placed the burden of taxation on the individual and small independent businesses. I do not support the introduction of VAT or Sales Tax. I am opposed to increases in Tax on Real Property. La Mare de Carteret and Les Beaucamps secondary schools need rebuilding and brought into the 21st century. La Mare de Carteret primary school is essential to our community. La Houguette school was one of three primary schools to trial a free bus service. This needs to be made permanent and extended to other schools. The island must provide for nursery education. I don't support the principle of paid parking. The work on resurfacing the airport runway should be kept to a minimum and avoid any extension which would lead to increased noise and pollution. The existing method of sewage disposal is no longer acceptable. Proper sewage processing is long overdue. I will continue to press for investment to strengthen our sea defences and protect coastal properties against flooding. I support community policing and zero tolerance on crime and anti-social behaviour. With your support I will continue to ensure that your concerns are placed before the States. Make your vote count, vote for David De Lisle. Help playing audio/video last updated: 13/10/2008 at 10:39 SEE ALSOYou are in: Guernsey > States of Guernsey > Election 2008 > David de Lisle |
