Election 2008You are in: Guernsey > States of Guernsey > Election 2008 > Peter Du Port ![]() Peter Du Port. Peter Du PortPeter Du Port is a candidate standing for election in the Vale parish. I am standing as a candidate in the Vale parish, it is where I have always lived. I was educated at the Vale infants and Junior schools then the Grammar school. My roots are planted very deeply in the parish and the Island of Guernsey. First of all, I would contribute myself full time as your deputy and would use that time wisely to thoroughly examine all issues, and consult with relevant parties, before drawing conclusions. I dislike hasty or poorly informed decisions. I have a very broad employment background which has equipped me with a good understanding of the social and economic issues of life in Guernsey. Importantly, I have extensive experience with dealing effectively with issues ranging from making representations on changes in legislation, wage negotiations, dispute resolution and leading campaigns on social issues. I feel confident that I have the necessary experience and maturity to contribute successfully to the demanding job of being a States Member. The continued economic success of the finance sector is under severe threat from external sources, additionally the 0-10 tax strategy will impact heavily on low income families. Protecting the best interests and welfare of both will be a difficult job. That will be my priority if elected. I would like to see our economy diversified so that we are in a better position to withstand change. Changes will occur but I will endeavor to ensure that they are managed for the benefit of the whole community. I will be delivering my manifesto to you all soon or see www.whyguernsey.com. for more information. I would be honoured to receive one of your votes for the Vale parish on Wednesday the 23rd of April.
