Election 2008

Tony Spruce

Tony Spruce.

Tony Spruce

Tony Spruce is a candidate standing for election in the Vale parish.

The choices you make at the forthcoming election will be of considerable importance. Our Island is entering a potentially difficult period, which will require mature, experienced, and committed Deputies, who are capable of fully understanding many complex issues.

If elected, I will strive to maintain a well balanced society, one that provides for the vulnerable members of our community, and also actively commits to the protection of our physical environment.

I would promote the development of a broad based diverse economy and a well regulated finance industry. Everyone must recognise that protection of this industry is vital to the security of our economy and many thousands of jobs.

I am particularly concerned about the level of development in our parish and continual erosion of our remaining green spaces. Serious consideration should be given to reviewing the impact that the urban area planning policies are having.

The Pembroke sea wall should be repaired, and the whole issue of waste management both solid and liquid must finally be resolved. Increased monitoring of wind blown rubbish and the odours emanating from the Mont Cuet landfill site should be introduced immediately, as this site is fast becoming a very bad neighbour for Vale parishioners.

I believe my past business experience can be used to improve the way Guernsey PLC functions as a whole.

I am a Vale Parish Douzaine member, the Chairman of Floral Guernsey, the Vice President of the National Trust of Guernsey, and a Debt Counsellor for the Citizens Advice Bureau.

I am a local man, passionate about my Island and I believe my range of experience makes me an ideal candidate to become a People’s Deputy capable of dealing with the many complex decisions that will need to be taken during the next term.
