Janine Le Sauvage.

Janine Le Sauvage

Janine Le Sauvage is a candidate standing for election in the South East district.

I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to a newly elected States, having served this Island as an elected Peoples’ Deputy for the past 14 years.

During this time, I served as a member of nine Committees, under the old States system. Water Board, Public Thoroughfares, the IDC, the Arts, Agriculture and Countryside Board and Tourism, to name a few. And, in the last four years, as a member of the Environment Department, which covers Traffic, Planning, Land Management and Coastal Defence. Recently, following the change in Minister, I have been elected as the Deputy Minister.

There are huge challenges ahead for the new States. Population, Health, Education, Waste, Sewage treatment, Climate change and of course, Funding. How will we pay for all that needs to be done? There are some tough decisions to be made with regard to priorities.

However, with all of this in mind, I will say this. We should aim to protect our environment from the damage and destruction caused by the activities of Human Beings. We must strive to provide a clean, safe and attractive environment to enable all members of our Community to live happy, healthy, safe and productive lives.

As a government, we have a responsibility for ensuring a good quality environment now, and for future generations. We must all play a part in reducing the threat of global warming.

If elected, I would support ;-

Sustainable development, control of population, more recycling and reduction of waste, energy conservation, sewage treatment, the introduction of Environmental and Coastal Defence Strategies, zero tolerance towards vandalism, loutish behaviour and drugs, more money for Health and Education, stringent accountability for use of taxpayers’ money.

Being self-employed for most of my working life has provided the discipline required to be an efficient, and active Deputy.
