Paul Domaille.

I am a 52 year old married Guernseyman who has lived in the Western Parishes for the past 24 years. My career changed from Commercial diving to Horticulture in 1990, a business I am still involved in. I was parish Procureur for St Pierre du Bois in 1995 and '96 and became a Douzaineer in 2001.

Being a Guernseyman I usually have an opinion on any aspect concerning our Island, I believe it is now time I put those opinions to good use, using common sense, lateral thinking and the use of all available facts.

Without a buoyant economy the infrastructure we have become used to is in jeopardy, so this is my first priority. Our new "traditional" industry of finance is at the core, however we must encourage some diversity should external influences ever threaten our main employer and funds raiser.

Secondly, the environment. We live in a finite area of land, we must ensure that we manage that land well. There are heavy demands on it but we must ensure a balance that allows some growth yet maintains the natural beauty and social well being of our Island. We must be prepared for any effects of climate change. I am a great proponent of alternative energy and the exploration of tidal power would be a priority.

Thirdly, law and order, in particular crimes of violence and those associated with drugs. We are relatively fortunate in crime levels, but any crime is too much in my book, hence my poster slogan "New Guernsey-Old Values".

We have many other issues facing us, some needing attention and some we should be proud of. I would dearly love the opportunity to serve the Western parishes and the Island in addressing these issues over the next 4 years and hopefully beyond.
