States Workings

The Health & Social Services Department advises the States on the mental, physical and social well being of the people of Guernsey and Alderney.

It is responsible for promoting, protecting and improving personal, environmental and public health and preventing, diagnosing and treating illness, disease and disability and caring for the sick, old, infirm and those with disabilities.

It provides social services, including ensuring the welfare and protection of children.

The department is also responsible for:-

• Health Education
• Promoting, protecting and improving environmental and public health
• Preventing or diagnosing and treating illness, disease and disability
• Caring for the sick, old, infirm and those with disabilities
• Management of Maison Maritaine, Longue Rue House and of St Julian's House.
