The Bensons

The Bensons take over Rocquaine.

The Bensons

Four brothers (or is it cousins?) from Bensonville who've come to Guernsey to spread their funk message, and all thanks to Terrence Trent D'Arby!?

Who Are They?

Chaddlebuck Benson: Vocals and guitar

Jefferson T. ‘Doubleberry’ and Chaddlebuck.

Band History

"Being as how we're all from the same family (brothers and cousins) an' all, making music together is just the natural thing to do, but it all began way back when we all sang in the Bensonville parish church choir together.

"Our 'groove bond' thus established, we soon moved on to providing music for local hoe-downs and barn dances, before eventually completing our musical apprenticeships with the Bengolian State Orchestra.

"It was during our time on tour with the B.S.O that a chance encounter with the popular musician Terence Trent D'Arby inspired us to form our own band, incorporating Bensonville folklore and legends and our own brand of challenging pop music.

"And so the Bensons became a fraternally funky future force for freedom forever."

The bands influences are (in no particular order): The Monkees, The Carpenters, Barry White, Rolf Harris, Chas 'N' Dave, Bad News, Raw Sex and Terence Trent D'Arby.

The Future

They have several projects in the pipeline. The ones they are allowed to talk about at the moment are:

  • A musical score for the film maker Ron Jeremy
  • An album of experimental ambient soundscapes (with Terence Trent D'Arby and Brian May)
  • A funk opera based on the life of Russell Grant called ‘Shooting Star’
  • An attempt to record the loudest ever audio book for the elderly and hard of hearing.
The Bensons at Christmas

Christmas - Benson's style

They are also considering offers to play live at a variety of events including Top Of The Pops, The Old Grey Whistle Test, The Tube and Woodstock.

They see their music as becoming not only good, but actually good for you and are currently in talks with the NHS about the possibility of having Benson music prescribed by doctors for a variety of ailments including depression, dyslexia and chronic piles.

Their Favourite Gigs

"We're not sure but we think it might have been not the one before last but the second to last one before the last one before that. Or was it the other one?"
