Gay Army live at Pieces Bar.

Gay Army

Combining the sound of 80's grooves with a modern twist to create a kind of Dark Post-Punk Disco. Think feather boas, ruffled shirts with medals and tin helmets.

Who Are They?

Corporal Punishment: Keys & Light Machine Gun

Major Dirt and Rear Gunner Reilly.

Funkmiester Klank: Bass & Mortar

Major Dirt: Guitar & Rifle

Snare Chief: Drums & Artillery

Rear Gunner Reilly: Vox & .50 Cal Browning

Band History

They first hit the parade ground on July 2005. Before that some of the band had taken a year off music, caught their breath and regrouped.

Everything fell into place quickly when the draft called up some synth into the ranks and since 2005 it has been rigorous training, close quarter drills, cabaret and experiments with make up.

They want to push themselves forwards musically and as a band whilst being well aware "that boys just wanna have fun."

The music comes very naturally to them and is a product of each members individuality, it sort of meets in the middle which makes Gay Army.

The Future

They could be called up for action at any minute but they would like to do some big missions in UK and France at some point.

They are recording some of their set to use as demos to put out locally and distribute online.

They also want to play the Live Lounge in Jersey again as they say "it is a cracking venue, Jersey are lucky to have that facility, it is something lacking in Guernsey which is a missed opportunity."

Their Favourite Gigs

"They have all be great fun and stand out for one reason or other whether that be from crowd reaction, performance or aftershow mischief!

"We played Alderney week in August 2006, the whole weekend was great fun. We did 2 great gigs within 14 hours. Alderney works like the world should, its a slower pace of life, yet things happen faster plus over there sobriety is relative!

"Other than that the following gigs do stand out:
Vale Earth Fair, August 2005 - Gay Army come out the closet.
Liberation Day, May 2006 - Huge crowd & huge atmosphere.
Live Action, July 06 - Loads of lights & loads of action."
