Who Were They?Neil Etasse: Shouting Dave Longan: Riffs ![]() Neil and Ollie. Ollie Smith: Bass rumble Paul Etasse: Drums (beatdowns) Band HistoryLimefire were started around April 2005. 3 guys getting fed up with all the s**t that passes for 'music' these days, and getting disconcerted by local kids only attending gigs to be cool, and not actually caring about the music or the work behind it. Dave, Ollie and Paul started talking about starting a no bulls**t, straight up hardcore punk band that pulls no punches and takes c**p from nobody. ![]() Paul. A few jams were had, and it all kicked off. Bass, drums and guitars were sorted, and the riffs were sounding good - all that was needed were vocals. Enter Paul's 'little' brother Neil, 6ft something of big angry man, who happens to like shouting at people. "If you wanna hear epic beautifully written songs, don't bother listening to us. If you wanna get over your ex cos she broke your heart, don't listen to us. If you want short sharp bursts of speed beaten down to brutality and lyrics that tell s**t like it is, then come check out Limefire... " Limefire's run as Guernsey's hardcore heroes sadly came to an end in December 2006 when the band decided to call it a day. They announced their split via MySpace with the following message: "Limefire decided tonight to call it a day... thanks to everyone who supported us or hated us, we did what we wanted to do and that's all that matters. ![]() Ollie. Their influences were: Beer, Sick of it all, Cro-Mags (NYHC in general), Minor Threat, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Terror, Raging Speedhorn. Their Favourite Gig"Our first gig in the Golden Lion, it got trashed. The recent Green Man/Discharge festival went really well, and all of our gigs in Jersey have been superb." Where Are They Now?Ollie continues to play bass in local band The Mid Carson Coalition and has joined UK screamo act 'Her Words Kill' along with fellow Guernsey musician Luke Vidamour. Paul now play drums with Vietnameasles, with whom Neil has been known to make an occaisional guest appearance. last updated: 10/10/07 You are in: Guernsey > Unsigned Bands > Vault > Limefire |
