Friday's Results

All the news from the final day of the XIth Natwest Island Games 2005 in the Shetland Islands.

Athletics

Dale Garland has taken a Gold medal in the Men's 100m in a time of 10.93 seconds, two hundredth of a second outside his personal best. Dale said it is the best 100m he has ever run given the conditions.

Lee Merrien has won the Men's 1,500m Final finishing eleven seconds ahead of the rest of the field to secure Gold. Tim Coates lost the race for Bronze by less than a fifth of a second.

Guernsey's Sarah Hume won Silver in 2 minutes 19.73 seconds in the Women's 800m.

After a Half Marathon effort Guernsey's Steve Dawes finished the 13.1mile course in 1 hour 14 minutes and 49 seconds landing himself a Bronze medal. Lee Garland came in 9th in 1 hour 17 minutes 58 seconds. Their efforts won them the Team Bronze.

Alderney's Nikki Neal beat Guernsey's Louise Perrio to a medal by just over a minute in the Women's Half Marathon giving Nikki Bronze, her second medal of the Games.

Dale Garland missed out on a Bronze by less than two centimetres in the Men's Javelin. He pulled out whilst in the Silver position to concentrate on the 100m.

Guernsey's Women have won the 4 x 400m Relay with Jersey claiming Silver 5 seconds behind them.

Guernsey Men's have won their 4 x 400m Relay in 3 minutes 17.57 seconds 9 ahead of Gibraltar.

Gemma Tingay came tenth in the Women's Discus with a distance of 26.27 metres.

Badminton

Silver for Guernsey's Elena Johnson in the Women's Badminton Singles. Jersey's Marianna Agathangelou won the final 2-1.

It's was an Inter-Insular grudge match in the Badminton Women's Doubles Final as Guernsey's Lisa Hayward and Elena Johnson faced Jersey's Marianna Agathangelou and Kerry Coombs-Goodfellow. The Jersey partnership came out on top winning two nil leaving Guernsey with Silver.

It's a Bronze for Guernsey in the Badminton Men's Doubles as Kevin Le Moigne and Darren Le Tissier lose out to Greenland's Frank Bagger and Bror Madsen.

It's a Bronze for Guernsey's Elena Johnson and Kevin Le Moigne who lost in the Mixed Doubles Semi Finals to Jersey's Marianna Agathangelou and Chris Cotillard.

Cycling

Ann Bowditch came a close third to win Bronze in the Women's Individual Town Centre Criterium.

Football

Guernsey Mens have lost to the Shetlands 2-0 in the Final leaving the Guerns with Silver and a broken run of 18 undefeated games.

Guernsey's Women Footballers have finished fifth overall.

Golf

Bobby Eggo has finished second, picking up Silver, in the Men's Golf Individual event four points behind the Isle of Man's Kevin Moore.

The Guernsey Team have also picked up Silver in the Golf Team event 21 points behind winners the Isle of Man.

Indoor Bowls

Guernsey have completed their medal haul in the Indoor Bowls by taking Gold in the Women's Team Event. They were denied a clean sweep by the hosts Shetlands who beat them in the Women's Doubles.

Shooting

Sark's Stefan Roberts has won a Silver in the ISSF Universal Trench Individual.

Squash

It's Gold for Alison Strobridge and Karen Dunk in the Squash Women's Doubles. Beating the Isle of Man's Maryke Burger and Isabell Klose 2-0.

In the Squash Mixed Doubles Guernsey's Chris Simpson and Karen Dunk have won the Bronze Medal Play Offs against Isabell Klose and David Norman from the Isle of Man.

Table Tennis

Phil Ogier and Dawn Morgan have won Silver in the Mixed Doubles. The pair lost in the Final to Gotland's Evelina Carlsson and Johan Eriksson.

In the Women's Table Tennis Final Gotland's Evelina Carlsson beat Guernsey's Dawn Morgan in four straight sets leaving Dawn to pick up the Silver.

It's a Bronze in the Table Tennis Women's Doubles for Helen Fooks and Dawn Morgan. They lost in a close semi to Evelina Carlsson and Elin Schwartz from Gotland.

Another Bronze in the Table Tennis Doubles as Guernsey Men Phil Ogier and Scott Romeril fought it out to the full five sets with Craig Christie and Igor Kubelka from the Shetlands before losing 3-2.
