Top of the TableGuernsey started Wednesday at the top of the medal table but will they still be there at the end of the day? ArcherySteve Yates is in 5th place after 72 arrows in the Men's seven twenty compound event, with Toni Robilliard and Mike Appelqvist in 7th and 8th respectively. Caroline Pinchmain is fourth in the Women's compound and Viv Le Page in 7th overall. BadmintonGuernsey Women's Doubles Team of Elena Johnson and Lisa Hayward have won their Quarter Final draw beating the Orkney pairing 2 nil. The Guernsey duo will face Greenland in the Semis. The other Women's Doubles Team of Charlotte Koller and Rachel Legg went out in the 1st Round to hosts the Shetlands. Darren Le Tissier and Kevin Le Moigne, who are defending their Gold from two years ago, are through to the Semi-Finals. Guernsey's other pairing in the Men's is Quentin Petit and Chris Dragun and they went out in the Quarter-Finals to Jersey. Guernsey's Ben Martin has won Bronze in the Men's Badminton Singles after reaching the Semi Finals. CyclingGuernsey's Caroline Wickham and Sonia Dean came in 9th and 11th in the Women's Individual Road Race. They also missed out on a medal in the Team event placing 4th. In the Men's Individual Road Race Guernsey missed out on any medals. Tobyn Horton was the top Guern in 12th, next was Chris Le Page in 20th with Graham Le Maitre just behind him at 23rd. Michael Dean was at the back of the field in 33rd. FootballIn the Island Games Guernsey Men's Footballers have just beaten Greenland 6-0 which secures their lead in Group 2. Scorers were Dave Rihoy (8), Neil Clegg (10), John Nobes (44), Dominic Heaume (56), Jody Bougaize (75) and Darragh Duffy (78). Ynys Mon have drawn 0-0 with the Western Isles meaning that Guernsey qualify for the Final on Friday with a game in hand. GolfAfter the 2nd Round of the Men's Individual Golf Bobby Eggo leads the field with Daniel Bisson in third. Andy Eggo is in 12th, it's 34th place for Jack Mitchell and Alderney's David Whatmore is 26th. In the Team Event Guernsey are in second place behind the Isle of Man. The Ladies in the Individual event have also played two rounds and the current Guernsey ranking are Sue Wellfair 18th, Marion Richards 20th and Gillian Burford in 22nd. Alderney's golfers are Barbara Dale in 23rd, Jill Guille 25th, Gill Waterfall 27th and Josephine Archer 29th. In the Ladies Team event Guernsey are 6th and Alderney 7th. The men and the women are switching courses each day and apparently it's not only the weather conditions they have to watch out for at the Whalsay course. The majority of the course sticks out into the North Sea but the main problem for the golfers seems to come from some rather over protective Arctic Terns who are nesting on the fourth fairway. The players are getting dive-bombed when they try and walk down the fairway! SailboardingGuernsey are looking good in the Sailboarding after four events with James Briggs in Gold position, Tim Laine lying just outside the medals, Simon Gregory in 8th and Jonathon Beck lies at the back of the field 14th equal with two others. But there is a long way to go with five races still to go. SailingAfter six races in the Sailing Laser Standard Rig Guernsey's Darragh Lee is sitting in sixth and Alan Harris is 12th. In the Laser Radial Rig after six races Paul Harris and Ben Creasey lie in 8th and 10th respectively. There are three more races to go in both disciplines. The Jersey woman overpowered Alison in three straight sets, taking gold but silver is still a great result for Strobridge. Team mate Karen Dunk won bronze. SwimmingIt was another Channel Island podium as Guernsey took 1st and 2nd in the Men's 100m Individual Medley. Thomas Hollingsworth swam home in 58.68 seconds. Almost a second and a half later Ben Lowndes came home and Jersey's Damien Bouchere was hot on his heals to claim the Bronze. In the Women's 4 x 100m Freestyle it was a reversal as the Jersey team were pushed into second as Guernsey took Gold.
