Just months after winning a prestigious award for Bio Day, the CSV Action Desk here at BBC Gloucestershire has scooped another top honour. They've been recognised in the CSV Make a Difference Day Awards - one of the UK's top award for volunteers - in the category for Best Local CSV Activity. One hundred and fifty people, including volunteers from the BBC Gloucestershire CSV Action Desk, the City Council, Barclays and a range of other groups got together to make the entry to the city a more welcoming sight. The gang spruced up the gateway to Gloucester - the area between the city's train station and the main shopping precinct - which involved more than 100 volunteers who cleaned, planted, painted and tidied the area. A team of local young people also painted murals depicting the cultural diversity in the city (below). | The new mural: Sprucing up the city |
Our CSV Action Desk was shortlisted, from a list of 40,000 events nationwide. The awards ceremony took place at Plaisterer's Hall, London on Thursday January 27.
