Stuart Weir is a fashion stylist to the stars. Think boy band Back Street Boys, rockstar Robbie Williams, pop tart Kylie Minogue and music diva Mariah Carey, and you'd have just a few of the big name stars he's met, dressed and styled. According to Stuart, "Mariah could be a bit of a diva but she never was with me. It was great fun getting an insight into her life although I wouldn't want to live it. "Robbie Williams on the other hand was great, a lovely guy and really cool to work with." | | Stuart Weir |
But what is a stylist to the stars doing in Cheltenham? Well, after working in London for 15 years, Stuart has returned to his hometown to open the modern, contemporary and ultra chic fashion and beauty emporium Pop. Situated in Cheltenham's trendy Montpellier it is a place to be pampered and preened whilst relaxing in a trendy fashion and beauty palace. "Pop has a whole feel good factor. People come here to get their hair done, buy nice things and be spoilt at the same time. "We are a one stop shop where you can shop, have a facial, a massage, have your hair done and drink a glass of champagne." It has taken Stuart and his partner a year to get Pop from concept to creation and Stuart is extremely happy with the results. "I wanted to open a shop here to bridge the gap between London and Cheltenham. The shop is a great continuation of what I've been doing, making people look good and feel happy all under one roof." Stuart started his career working with David Thomas, fashion editor at Esquire magazine. "I started working with David on a freelance basis. When he left the magazine I carried on working with him and built up my own portfolio and that's how it all began." Local talent The fact is, most women like to shop and what makes Pop unique is that it offers a range of products only available in London until now. Designs by Patrick Cox, Robert Clergerie and Shaun Leane are on show, but Stuart also uses the space to showcase Gloucestershire talent including local fashion and jewellery designers. "We currently have jewelry by local artist Halle Spencer and I plan to showcase new talent every three months. So it's a great way of getting new names known." Stuart will also use the walls at Pop as a gallery space and display artwork by local upcoming artists. So with a new shop, a showcase for new talent and Cheltenham at his feet, what's next for Stuart? "I want Pop in Cheltenham to be the flagship store and I want to start my own clothing line. "I plan to open another shop in Bristol and then one in Oxford, and eventually I'd like to open a Pop Ibiza." »Win a pamper day at Pop Article by Nat Hall .........................................
