| | Grotesque gargoyles leer from on high, sinister owls guard the courtyard and the house is even home to one of the UK's largest colonies of rare bats! The mansion, is said to be home to a headless horse and a floating coffin. Staff working for the charitable trust that now owns the mansion have reported strange noises, banging, and voices - one has even had her hair pulled and her camera switched off.  | | Woodchester has gruesome gargoyles galore |
A live satellite TV broadcast from the mansion during the night of the summer solstice in 2003 saw mediums contacting two spirits. The TV team found several murders had been committed at Woodchester including a servant girl who was strangled and a builder around 1840.
