I would agree with Chris, however it must not be forgotten the good work that paul baker has done during his time as chairman of the club, many teams in our league have huge levels of debt, luckily this is not the case.however because of this we lack excitement :(

Quite clearly the wrong decision - its graham allner all over again. We are led to believe that there is a "substantial" compensation package agreed for John Ward and so why can this not be used to bring in a higher calibre name. The Board seem to have lost their tranparency with the fans recently. League 2 next season seems to have been accepted already.

Who ever isthe manager of cheltenham you are still going down , yure only chance was Melligan and he went to a better club.up the O'S

Easy for the board to appoint - not having to pay any compensation or too much for increased salary expectation. Easy for the players - they can carry on operating in their comfort zone, they do not have to prove themselves to someone from outside the club what they can do.Are the club already preparing to play League 2 football next season? Please prove me wrong!

Zach
Not after that horrific performance against Walsall

Stuart
I remember the last time we had a successful manager leave us for a higher placed club. We appointed his deputy to replace him then as well and we got relegated as the man was not up to the job. I would hate to see us relegated as the club have not learnt their lesson but I will give him until christmas to prove me wrong.

I think that Downing will do OK, but Cheltenham would have been better off getting a proven manager.

Chris
Paul Baker said that John Ward would be the last manager that he appointed. Why did he not keep his promise? I, along with the vast majority of fans, wish he had kept that promise given today's decision. As a season ticket holder, I am shocked and deeply disappointed by this decision. It will get us relegated. I will not be remotely surprised if a new striker is signed on loan to cover this bad news story.
