If Severn Trent had not abandoned Witcombe, Dowdeswell and Sandford Waterworks they might not have found themselves in such a mess.They were the architects of their own disaster.

The rain was unprecedented. In my opinion those dudes from the water board were absolute superstars. All those moaning minnies out there would complain about a hike in water rates or income tax if we'd had to pay it. Maybe they think Father Christmas or the Tooth Fairy should have provided us with free flood defences. Why don't we build hurricane defences and get all the elves and gnomes to foot the bill. Woolly liberals should get real before they start their incessant complaining. Humph!

just as an appendage to my last comment...both the Severn and Avon river beds are rich in nutrients, and would benefit local farm lands...any costs involved would be more than offset by the benefits to local farming communities....and balanced against insurance claims for water damage during flood...well, think about it...this is how green England used to work...we seem to have lost something in the translation..I'm seriously thinking of starting a campaign...if it aint broke...don't fix it !

I think Severn Trent did all they could under exceptional circumstances, even though the flooding was expected, nobody could have predicted that it was going to be as bad as it was.Now, everybody is going on about building on flood plains, and yes, that's part of it....but surely a larger issue is that the rivers are no longer dredged as they used to be.Dig 20 foot out of the bed and the water would have somewhere to go..at one time we could get large vessels up the river...now, barely a punt.

Why are your pumps and electrical controls so close to the flood height of the river Severn at Tewkesbury.All fittings and pumps should be upgraded to i.p.65 or higher.The disribution of water was better when the army took over

I work as a leakage inspector for another water company, some of our staff were sent to help out during the floods, but were amazed at how the Severn Trent staff were so unorganized. No one really knowing what to do or where to send the bowsers. They should have offered some sort of compensation, no matter how small, even a reduced bill, but as Ofwat did not instruct them to, Severn Trent did not want to waste any money. Since the floods, neither severn Trent or the local council have been in our area, making repairs to the roads, footpaths & more importantly the road gullys, which are still blocked. With biils set to rise again, when will the customer see any real differnce from a company with large profits? No Severn Trent did not handle the floods well.

we think you coped very well to restore water,in the extreme circumstances.the past has happened the concern now is to be sure we are better protected in future should the severe weather conditions continue to happen. we have found in the last few the other concern is that it is difficult to get an answer regarding which authority is responsible for the The other problem that arises is the drainage system that causes great concern as on trying to get answers regarding this matter…. there seems to be nobody responsible to give us a direct answer and find we are passed from one authority to another surely in this day of the computer there should be universal plans as to who is responsible for what and where they run .The drains are not maintained properly and are totally inadequate to cope in normal conditions , let alone adverse ones. On doing drain checks ourselves in the Ashchurch Road and it appears they are just not coping, for example the drains that have been put in when the new road surface was done are to high and the water floods down into the foot path and subsequently into peoples drives. Is this Glos County Highways Tewkesbury Council or yourselves .We would like to obtain We would like to look at the plans of the drainage system running from our house, however a neighbour of ours had a plan of their drains and they were wrong .We have brought this to your attention because this in our opinion is a major issue in the area in which we live. We would welcome a visit from yourselves with a plan of 40 ashchurch road to check these plans are correct .. yours faithfully e marsh and d white.

Considering the total effect from the amount of rain,even though it was expected,the supply of Bowsers and Free bottled water, was a tremendous effort brought out in a few days. The bottom line is we all got through it, with the Emergency water that was supplied.Re-connection of supply way Brilliant. You deserve the Full Credit for what you did. But as alway you get moaners, but could they do it any better. NO WAY.
