Help playing audio/video As soon as we got to 1981, music started to worry John a bit... ![]() Julian Cope ...Bucks Fizz were one of the biggest bands on the planet and Stars On 45 got to Number 1 on the UK singles chart! All the bands that we were told would take us off the straight and narrow, but the bands that we secretly loved, were few and far between. But then The Teardrop Explodes came along with a sound that made us sit up and take notice and Julian Cope was at the forefront.
Then there was his solo career and, away from music, he's also an author and amongst other things he wrote the book The Modern Antiquarian which explored the sites of Britain's megalithic heritage.
