Gardeners' Questions began on BBC Radio Gloucestershire in the mid-1990s. The format is simple; an audience of listeners pose gardening queries to a panel of experts. Originally hosted by Steve Knibbs, the programme has been presented by Vernon Harwood since 1998. | | Gardening guru Reg Moule |
The show is supported by Britain's gardening charity the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and every week the panel includes some of the region's premier gardening experts including Jim Jellyman, Duncan Coombs, James Boyle, Roger Umpleby and Trevor Wellington. Radio favourite Reg Moule has the dubious honour of having appeared in every single edition of the programme. A past winner of the Garden Writers' Guild Radio Award, the show has been recorded in village halls, theatres, community centres and town halls all over the county. Amongst the hundreds of places we've visited are Cirencester, Lydney, Hewelsfield, Longlevens, Stonehouse, Westbury-on-Severn, Kemble, Bishop's Cleeve, Rodborough, Lechlade, Bourton-on-the-Water, Tewkesbury and Cinderford. The latest series (2006) features programmes from Lechlade, North Cerney and Parkend.
