With clearly one of the most interesting stories of all the acts appearing at Glastonbury this year, Staff Benda Bilili (whose name loosely means 'look beyond appearances' ) are a group of street musicians who hail from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They rehearsed and recorded their acclaimed debut album Très Très Fort in the Kinshasa zoo with the help of Belgian producer Vincent Kenis, attempting to avoid the loud traffic of the city, only to be met with the challenges of amphibians at night. The band whose core members suffered from polio as children are joined on stage by street kids that the older members have taken under their wing. One such member is the ingenious Roger Landu who plays a self-made instrument crafted from an electrical wire and a tin can. See them create their incredible sound at Glastonbury on the West Holts Stage.
