Gospel-tinged folk

Dry the River are a five-piece folk band based in London. Today their rattly alt-folk is a mixture of Americana, gospel and indie rock, but their early collaborations showed an infatuation with late 90s post-punk and progressive rock acts like At the Drive-In. Songwriter Peter Liddle began to pen songs in earnest at university, drawing inspiration from the texts he was studying in the course of his anthropology degree. His solo project quickly morphed into a haphazard array of musical endeavours, before Dry the River's line-up settled in early 2009. In February 2010, their beautiful, emotive track No Rest was chosen as the BBC Introducing Tip of the Week.
