Foam flower

Tiarella has matt leaves similar in shape to those of heuchera, except that, unlike heuchera, they are evergreen. They are often spotted or patterned with mahogany blotches and, in autumn, take on bronze-red tints. In late spring and early summer, short upright spikes of foamy flowers are held just above the foliage. Plants look best grown as ground cover in shady wild and woodland gardens, or in shady borders planted with hardy ferns and hostas. They tolerate deep shade and prefers moist but well-drained soil. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its Award of Garden Merit in recognition of its outstanding excellence.
