'Evelyn' has large, apricot-pink blooms that have a wonderful fragrance similar to that of old roses. The shallow, saucer-shaped flowers are borne freely throughout the summer if regularly deadheaded. As a shrub rose, it is best pruned in late summer, after flowering has finished. Prune most stems lightly. To encourage young, vigorous growth, cut back a few of the oldest stems each year. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
