Shrub rose

This is one of the English roses bred by David Austin in 1986, with 'Iceberg' in its parentage. It is a modern shrub rose with an old-fashioned appearance, vigorous and robust, producing some long stems which benefit from shortening in autumn. The very large and fine blooms are richly coloured, apricot yellow in the centre and softening to ivory at the edges they are fully double, opening wide and flat. Plants need good rich soil, but also do well in containers if fed once or twice during the flowering season. As a shrub rose, it is best pruned in late summer, after flowering has finished. Prune most stems lightly. To encourage young, vigorous growth, cut back a few of the oldest stems each year.
