As perhaps can be gathered from the name, this is a particularly fine variety of the clustered bellflower. A vigorous plant, splendid for the border, it bears large heads of dark, purple-violet flowers in early summer and often again later if dead-headed promptly. 'Superba' has been given an Award of Garden Merit (AGM), which is for plants of outstanding excellence.
