'Suffruticosa' is a compact and very slow-growing variety, that grows to around 90cm (3ft) tall. Like B. sempervirens, its dense habit makes it ideal for hedging or screening and it can be clipped close into different shapes. 'Suffruticosa' is one of the best varieties for low hedging to create a knot or parterre. Box prefers partial shade but can tolerate full sun if the soil does not dry out, as this may lead to the leaves turning brown and scorching.
