The dwarf fern leaf bamboo is one of the smallest bamboos, it is very tough and performs well as an unusual ground cover plant, quickly colonising bare slopes or banks. The evergreen leaves are fern like, standing erect and fanning out in groups of 5 or so. It grows to just 2ft in height and spreads quickly with densely packed stems and slender canes. On the down side, it can be invasive in borders and beds and will need to be controlled.
