An attractive plant for damp soil and boggy areas. The young foliage is a fresh green colour. The flowers are creamy white and have a strong, sweet scent, while the leaves are less aromatic. Meadowsweet has a very long history of herbal use, as it was one of the three most sacred herbs of the ancient Druids. The leaves and flowering stems have traditionally been used as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, aromatic astringent, diuretic and general tonic.
