Rose

This is a lightly scented floribunda that catches the eye with its beautiful, deep-pink flowers verging on light red. It'll flower all summer with an abundant show of buds, and stands out even more as the evening light starts to fade, when the pink gains in intensity. It's a good choice near seating areas where you don't want anything too strong or subtle. It mixes well with long-flowering blue geraniums, and adds an extra frothy touch at the foot of an apple tree. Prune in February, cutting away from one-half to three-quarters of the old growth, forcing up plenty of new spring shoots.
