Cherry

Producing a good crop of reddish-yellow edible cherries, it can be grown on three different rootstocks, giving different heights to approximately 3m (10ft) high, 5m (15ft), or 6-9m (20-30ft), depending on your soil. The early spring blossom is white, and the leaves turn rust-orange in autumn. Note that you'll need a second, different cherry that flowers at the same time to get summer fruit. 'Napoleon' used to be commercially grown in Kent, being known as the 'Kent Nap', but the over-fussy supermarkets wanted a cherry that didn't bruise quite so easily.
