Bred in Japan, 'Fuyu-No-Tabi' produces large flowers about 10-15cm (4-6in) across. These are white with a luxurious creamy sheen that contrasts well with the dark maroon anthers in the centre. It's a vigorous growing variety, reaching between 180- 240cm (6-8ft) if conditions are right. Plants produce a main flush of flowers in early-summer followed by a second flush later in the year. Choose a sunny planting site with plenty of added oragnic matter and ensure that the roots are shaded from hot sunshine. Prune plants in early-spring to remove any dead or weak stems, always cutting back to a healthy pair of buds.
