A member of the olive family, this species, as its name suggests, is renowned for its very fragrant, white, tubular flowers that appear in autumn and sometimes again in spring and summer. Plants form an upright shrub or small tree with dark green, oblong leaves with pointed tips. Although native to the Himalayas this species is only half-hardy in UK gardens. Plants will survive if given protection from cold winds by using windbreak material or using other plants to reduce the speed of the wind.
