- alba/albus = white
- coccinea/coccineus = scarlet

Habitat

Sometimes a prefix or suffix is used:

- grandi- = large
- leuco- = white
- macro- = long or large
- semper- = always
- brevi- = short
- -issima = very (foetidissima = very smelly!)
