Design inspiration "Our garden celebrates Sheddingdean's 20th "China" anniversary this year and inspiration for the design was taken from the famous "Willow" pattern.
"This garden represents our interpretation of the love story behind the pattern. The story tells that a willow fence was built around a pagoda, by the mandarin, to keep his daughter from the man she loved. The lovers fled over a bridge and escaped to a secret island. They were eventually found and sadly died, but were immortalised by the gods as two doves, hence the bird table. "The heart and tear drop represent love and sadness. The river is filled with blue and white planting and the willow tree epitomises the poignancy of the Willow pattern story." | | Designers, Jenny Wisby, Sharon Kent and Hilary Odey.
