East Wind

Design inspiration

Koji Ninomiya"We Japanese have acquired the sense of living with rich Japanese seasonal 'nature' spontaneously. How do we, the Japanese, feel when coming face-to-face with the beautiful English countryside or watching clouds blow over Cotswold hills? This experience inspired the garden, 'East Wind', as the fusion of our feeling from the image of friendly English plants or scenery of English countryside on the one hand and, on the other, our Japanese original sense of nature.

"The materials which we use here are all local, a mixture of west and east. Plant materials are also a mix of western and eastern origin. We believe this garden shows one direction of future garden style."

Designer, Koji Ninomiya
