Best Chic Garden

Design inspiration

Kate Gould"This is a basement garden, a shady space to escape the heat of the city during the warm summer months. The planting style reflects the shady conditions you would expect in a basement. Tree ferns and bamboos provide screening from above allowing a large day bed to take centre stage; a place to relax during the heat of the day and to escape the stifling temperatures inside at night. Water plays a key role in relaxing the senses and materials are designed to be 'clean' and easily transportable through a property where having no side entrance may be an issue. Where possible the idea of a room outside has been reinforced with the water feature and other opaque walls designed to look like windows with louvered blinds."
