Stephen King might have considerable command over the written word, but when he decides that he likes a film adaptation of one of his movies it's usually a bad sign. Our reviewer couldn't find anything kinder to say than: "Part sci-fi, part horror, all drivel, this schlocky Stephen King adaptation is amusingly dreadful." Worse still, King, as you'll see on this DVD, seems pleased about what he's seen when interviewed straight after a screening of the film...

Dream Writer
Good interviews with King are a rarity, and the seven-minute job on this disc is no exception. It's worth a look for King's account of how this novel was born out of a personal near death experience, and for the genre melding he was aiming to achieve with it. Otherwise this featurette is a missed opportunity.
Puppets And Aliens
Also on the disc is a behind-the-scenes featurette on the creature effects of the movie. There are few surprises to be found here, and it's only likely to ruin any suspense the film ever had for you. The presentation of the movie is the only real saving grace, with a chilling 5.1 sound mix to get your head turning in fear.
