You wanna bunch of fives mate?

    1) Sir Paul McCartney has a mean left hook

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder can testify to that.

He was left with a bloody nose after the Beatle punched him in the face, while telling a story in a Seattle bar.

It was by accident, mind, and the bassist apologised immediately.

Eddie recalls "tasting a bit of blood" and confesses to being a little sorry when the swelling went down.

Here he is below on SiriusXM in America taking up the amazing tale.

    2) M.I.A could soon become an A.I version of herself

So Gorillaz were way ahead of their time when they launched as an animated band back in 2001.

Now Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A has suggested that her future performances may involve some form of Artificial Intelligence replacing her.

Speaking at the Meltdown Festival, external in London (and fresh from a video chat with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange) the 41-year-old artist/producer said she was currently pre-occupied with "how to be useful" as an artist going forward into the A.I age.

She said: "Artists are at the cusp of embracing A.I. But what is political activism in A.I phase?

"I think, 'Should I make my next video in virtual reality?', instead of me. I find that sexy - new technology. I want to do things in a way that aren't the accepted route."

She added: "I could take the hippy route of singing to people face-to-face... or I could stream my virtual shows to people's bedrooms around the world so you can be at my show wherever you are.

    Quote Message

The amount of data A.I can pick up on is so fast growing that the future me will be way better anyway! But will the future me be less politicised to appeal to the most people possible?

"Because of my political stance I get told 'you'll be punished economically'. We have to make that decision."

    Don't change M.I.A.

We love you just the way you are.

    3) The power of music is v.strong

BBC Music Day yesterday demonstrated the power of music to bring us all together, make us feel fantastic and create unforgettable memories nationwide.

    Image caption,

I swear miss, the dog ate it

    4) Even Bob Dylan copies other people's homework

Bob Dylan's Nobel prize award speech came in the form of an epic bit of beat prose set to music and was described as "extraordinary".

But like a desperate fresher uni student, did Bob get more than just a little help from literature study website Sparknotes, external?

    Seems so.

In describing his literary influences of The Odyssey, All Quiet on the Western Front, and Moby-Dick the legendary singer was accused of "cribbing directly from the site".

Andrea Pitzer from US online magazine website Slate added: "Across the 78 sentences in the lecture that Dylan spends describing Moby-Dick, even a cursory inspection reveals that more than a dozen of them appear to closely resemble lines from the Sparknotes site.

"And most of the key shared phrases in these passages (such as “Ahab’s lust for vengeance” in the above lines) do not appear in the novel Moby-Dick at all."

So the Freeloading Bob Dylan then eh?

Robert please report to the Music News LIVE office immediately. Detention for you boy.

"I didn't know quite what to do with my feelings so I put it in a song, which became Angels In Chains."

The Canadian singer has just released the first taste of her forthcoming album Now, which is due out in September.

Like Ride before her (scroll down) Shania has not released a studio album for a long time. In fact 2002's Up! was the last full length effort.

The first new single finds her in optimistic mood, we're happy to report.

George Ezra joined Annie Mac last night to mark his new Hottest Record, Don't Matter Now, which you can hear above.

Its got quite a funky groove to it, its own brass section and a call and response-style chorus.

He also told her the story of taking some time - after touring his last album - to himself in Barcelona (not Budapest strangely) where he rented a room in someone's flat.

  18. Chas Hodges announces cancer treatment is overpublished at 09:49 BST 16 June 2017

The singer - one half of Chas & Dave - has taken to social media to confirm that his treatment for cancer of the oesophagus is over.

Writing on Twiter he said: "Doctor wants to see me in three months time. Feel good & ready to gig."

The band are due to support Phil Collins at the British Summer Time festival on 30 June.

Chas (pictured, above right) told the Daily Mirror: "I had five weeks of radiotherapy, five days a week, and saw the doctor on Tuesday and he said he doesn’t want to see me for three months - that’s when you know things are going alright."

The singer was diagnosed with cancer in December after struggling to drink a glass of water.

He said: "They told me to try to get 20 minutes of gentle exercise every day, so I’ve still been playing the piano and going around the allotment every day, and cycling there.

“It’s kept me going, but I haven’t overdone it. I feel fit. There hasn’t been one day I haven’t been able to do that."
