Speaking of the Royal Albert Hall (we were, scroll down), this next lady is not going to forget her night out there in a hurry, is she?

Lisa Prior only popped down to the London venue for a pleasant evening of music and comedy. Or so she thought.

Organizers of Symfunny No.2, external had other ideas.

They gave one random lucky gig-goer (who happened to be Lisa) the opportunity/fright of a lifetime, plucking her from the crowd to conduct a full orchestra and 250 strong choir.

She was allowed to keep her baton and said: "I will treasure my baton. My mum would have been so proud."

The event, held in aid of charity Parkinson's UK, saw stars from the music and comedy worlds combine in order to raise money and awareness of the disease.

The night saw the likes of The Who's Pete Townshend (above), Katie Melua and Aled Jones (both below) perform alongside comedians Jason Manford and Josh Widdicombe.

In short, he's scribbled classic lyrics from the city's seminal bands on yellow road markings around town.

Well Greater Manchester Police got in touch with us and have a serious message for the artist...set in the style of one of his own favourite lyricists. 

A GMP spokesperson told the BBC: “We don’t want to cause panic on the streets of Manchester and we do understand that some crimes are bigger than others, but this is still a criminal offence.

The music of film composer John Williams - who has scored film franchises such as Harry Potter, Star Wars and Jaws, will feature at a BBC Prom this year, marking his 85th birthday.

The programme for this year's season at the Royal Albert Hall in London has been announced.

Conductor Jules Buckley will also pay tribute to two very different musical legends.

The music of Scott Walker (pictured above), the American-born British singer-songwriter, composer and producer will be celebrated by the Heritage Orchestra while a night or programming will examine the work of jazz legend Charles Mingus.

Elsewhere Jools Holland will mark the 50th anniversary of Stax Records; home of stars like Otis Redding.

To mark Hull's year as the City of Culture, the festival will leave London for the first time in more than 80 years with a performance of Handel's Water Music at a new outdoor ampitheatre overlooking the River Hull and the Humber estuary.

Europe's only BAME orchestra Chineke! will make their Proms debut, accompanied by BBC Young Musician winner Sheku Kanneh-Mason.

That's according to the artist who has been stencilling lyrics from Manchester indie legends The Smiths and Joy Division on double yellow lines across the city.

The scribe, known by his Instagram name AlShepMCR, external, has been taking to the streets of Prestwich, Whitefield and the Northern Quarter in recent weeks to add musical tributes to the painted street markings.

Some of the lyrics used include words from the Smiths' classic There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out (above) and Joy Division's anthem to doom Love Will Tear Us Apart (below).

Nicely done I'm sure you'll agree, but all highly illegal.

He told the Press Associaiton that his work is not vandalism but 'poetic' and he wants resident Mancs to find their own meaning within.

"I don't want to make a mess and it does wash off after a couple of weeks, depending on the weather or the traffic," he said.

"My inspiration is autism and schizophrenia and Tourette's, that's what often goes into it."

He added: "It's not about me, I just want people to think and they can take the meaning they want."

The artist, who claims to have used the same stencil kit for 20 years, adds that he finds the process "cathartic" - but refutes claims that's he's Manchester's answer to Banksy.

"I don't want money. I scribble on money, and people in the shops won't take it.

"I'm not bloody Banksy, am I? He's making a mint, I'm making nothing."

Bruce Springsteen has made no secret of the fact that he is no fan of the new US President but now he has laid down his thoughts about Donald Trump in song.

He's teamed up with his longtime collaborator and frontman of the Houserockers Joe Grushecky to record That’s What Makes Us Great. 

"I had this song, and Bruce and I had been talking,” Grushecky told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, external. 

"I sent it to him and he liked it. I said, ‘What do you think about singing on it?’ He gave it the Bruce treatment.”

On the track, which can be streamed or downloaded from Joe's website, Bruce sings: "Don’t tell me a lie/And sell it as a fact/I’ve been down that road before/And I ain’t going back.

"Don’t you brag to me/That you never read a book/I never put my faith/In a con man and his crooks."

Brilliantly named 80s post-punk band The The are back with their first new vocal track in 15 years.

Since 2003, reclusive singer Matt Johnson has worked mainly on soundtracks, film scores and art installations.

For Record Store Day, the band will release a brand new 7" record called We Can't Stop What's Coming, which features former member and Smiths legend Johnny Marr.

Now, Matt explains to 6 Music's Steve Lamacq how his late brother Andrew inspired the track.

Lana Del Rey & The Weeknd have provided Mistajam's Hottest Record In The World for Wednesday.

And we even have a lovely moody black and white video (above) to accompany the song. It's like a sensitive Sin City, without all the bloodshed and violence. And Marv.

The singer will be playing the new material in Hull for Radio 1's Big Weekend next month and told Mistajam: "I'm so looking forward to it, I was trying to remember the last time I played outside of London.

"I'll have my two dancers and I'm excited to play some of my favourites from the first record."

Alt-J were backed up by the world's best house band The Roots as they performed one of their new tracks, In Cold Blood, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

It's from their new album Relaxer which is due out on 2 June.

Yesterday, it was announced the band are joining the line-up of Radio 1's Big Weekend in Hull. 

After their performance they even managed to collar another guest for a quick selfie captioned 'Space for a legend'.

Jack White and Elton John star in a trailer for a new three-part series recreating American music history.

The series American Epic, explores the history of the 1920s, in which record companies travelled across the US with mobile recording gear searching for new artists.

The equipment has been recreated from its original parts for the project. 

Other guests in the series - which will also be shon on BBC Four in May - include Beck, Alabama Shakes and Willie Nelson.

So Katy Perry has angered a lot of Indian people (scroll down) and now fellow US pop star Nicki Minaj has caused a similar storm after leaving shots of London's Westminster Bridge in her latest video.

The US rapper filmed scenes for No Frauds just the day before Khalid Masood killed four people on the bridge, before fatally stabbing police officer Keith Palmer.

She tweeted her sympathies after the attack (above) and newspaper reports suggested she was going to cut the scenes from the Remy Ma diss track, which features Drake and Lil Wayne.

But the footage has been left in the final video, which you can find on YouTube (sorry we can't post it here) leading some to suggest it is insensitive so soon after the tragic event.

US pop queen Katy Perry is facing the wrath of many Hindus in India and elsewhere online after uploading the above image, external of the goddess Kali...

...alongside the caption: "Current mood".

Ma Kali, as she is popularly known, is the Hindu goddess of destruction, which suggests KP was not feeling too creative that day. 

Since it was uploaded a day ago, the Instagram post, external has received more than 11,000 comments and while some of her fans have tried jumping to her defence, they are far outnumbered by angry Indians.

We hope you're all researching the location of your local record shop in anticipation of this weekend's Record Store Day, external?

Among the exclusive releases this year is a 30th anniversary picture disk of U2's Red Hill Mining Town from their seminal album The Joshua Tree.

The Irish band are touring the album to mark its three decades and are playing around 40 dates in Europe and the US, including a couple of massive shows at Twickenham Stadium in London in July.

Singer Bono was a guest on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show earlier and told DJ Chris Evans that the vocals on the new re-release are newly recorded and that on the original version he was trying to sound like one of the UK's greatest ever gravel-voiced soul singers...

So, if - like us - you were excited by the thought of some brand new music being released on Friday to mark the first year anniversary of Prince's death, then you might just have to wait a little longer.

His estate have taken legal action claiming the works were stolen by his former sound engineer.

The six-song EP Deliverance was taken from recordings he made between 2006 and 2008 and, according to the announcement on Wednesday, the late musician's sound engineer Ian Boxill spent a year completing arranging and mixing the songs, 

However, a civil action filed in Minnesota district court is seeking an injunction against the release, claiming breach of contract, theft and misappropriation.

Prince died on 21 April 2016, at age 57 of an overdose of the painkiller fentanyl.
