  2. Dua Lipa: 'I can't use New Rules as a benchmark'published at 15:25 BST 30 May 2018

The singer, who performed at the Champions League final at the weekend, says she won't use the success of her breakout single to dictate her future.

Speaking to Music News LIVE ahead of her performance, Dua said she has been working on new music with hit-maker to the stars, Swedish producer Max Martin.

"I have a few more surprises that I'm excited about, at the top of the year I wrote in Jamaica and Los Angeles," she said.

"When I was in Jamaica, it rained quite a lot and helped with the songwriting, on the days when it was sunny I went to the beach, which tells you everything you need to now about my focus when the sun is out.

"But in Los Angeles, I got to work with Max [who has worked with artists like Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and NSYNC] and that was so exciting and I was 100% focused on the studio."

While we'll have to wait to hear the fruits of those sessions, her track New Rules recently passed one billion views on YouTube, making her the youngest female solo artists to hit that benchmark.

But Dua says she remains wary about letting its success define her career expectations.

"No-one expected New Rules to do what it did and I'm so grateful for the opportunities its given me. But if I were to use that as a benchmark, I feel it would be the death of creativity. I want to make music that I'm proud of and that hopefully people can relate to.

"I don't really want to allow the crazy, crazy success of it to define what the rest of the music I make will sound like."

Erstwhile members of One Direction, BTS and The Vamps might want to take notice of this one.

The Guardian have spoken to former boyband members about the struggle adjusting to life after the hits have dried up.

Westlife star Brian McFadden (picture above, centre) admits the simple act of deciding what to wear was an issue: “I was used to someone waking me up in the morning and then some girl coming in to give me an outfit."

Derek Moran of defunct Irish band D-Side added: “Our stylists used to take us to Selfridges and spend £50,000 in a day, so whenever I had money I’d just go there.

“It took me a while to realise that there were other shops to go to – and that I could buy a T-shirt in H&M for a fiver.”

Music fans at the Biggest WeekendImage source, PA

Digital Minister Margot James has told BBC Radio 5 live that if fans had to use a secondary site to buy tickets, "don't choose Viagogo - they are the worst".

Her warning comes after the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said Viagogo - one of the big four resellers - was breaking UK advertising rules by failing to make additional fees clear.

The advertising watchdog said Viagogo had agreed to make compulsory fees "sufficiently clear" by 26 May, but had failed to do so.

The other three big resellers - StubHub, Seatwave and GetMeIn - were also subject to the action against "drip pricing", where VAT, booking and delivery fees were added at the end of the booking process.

The ASA has received 23 complaints about Viagogo from groups including concert promoters Festival Republic.
