We'll hear more form them later in the week, until then, here are their thoughts.

The actor and musician was taking part in the Letters Live, external performance at Wilderness at the weekend.

Speaking to Music News LIVE after the Sunday afternoon show, Jordan - who recently published an article on toxic masculinity, external - said: "I've been doing a lot of work on myself, I've been growing up, I've been making a lot of music and doing some writing and at the moment I'm trying to mould it like a clay pot.

"I'm just trying to get an understanding about what I really love and put it in a platform where people can hear it."

Jordan confirmed his band - which he formed with Harley Alexander-Sule in 2008 "is on ice at the moment".

"We love each other dearly," he added. "We're both doing our own solo stuff in our own time with no pressure."

Letters Live saw actors Olivia Colman and Sir Ben Kingsley, Alexander Armstrong, Louise Brealey, comedians Shappi Khorsandi and Ruby Wax among others, perform letters written throughout history.

Jordan performed a hilarious note written by the late comic actor Rik Mayall to Bob Geldof in which he berates the musician for not allowing him to take part in the recording of Band Aid's Do They Know Its Christmas?.

"With such a distinct character as Rik Mayall, it's difficult to do it justice and I sometimes have tried an imitation doing Letters but with this one, I just went with the tone.

"I thought it was hilarious, it definitely resonated with me. RIP to one of the greats."

Some highlights from the Wilderness festival 2018

Away from the music on the main stage, there were some special performances across the weekend at Cornbury Park.

Some of the highlights included the festival's "house band" the Wilderness Orchestra with their live performance of Disney classics and the hip hop karaoke.

The latter saw punters take to the stage to channel their inner De La Soul and Beastie Boys.

One-ten year old boy's word perfect rendition of Eminem's The Real Slim Shady will live long in the memory but cannot be repeated on here for obvious reasons.

Brixton-based musician Gaika blended his mix of hip hop, electronic music and trip hop with esteemed dance company Rambert for a powerful piece of performance art.

We know Annie Mac often plays her Hottest Record twice (with a gap for some chat) but is there ever really any call for hearing the same song three times in a row?

New York art rockers Vampire Weekend fans think so and were delighted to see the band kick off their Lollapalooza show in Chicago at the weekend by playing their track A-Punk thrice.

The track is only two and half minutes long but still, that's a bold opening statement.

The Surrey-born electronic artist, whose latest album Singularity is the highest charting of his career, played the main stage at Wilderness on Saturday.

Jon's in the middle of massive tour but told Music News LIVE that he's got a special trip planned coinciding with some time off.

"I'm just about to go to Ecuador, going down one of the largest cave networks in the world called Tayos (Cueva de los Tayos) with a team of artists and scientists and we're going to be making art and doing some scientific experiments down there.

"I will be going essentially to experience this place in order that I can come back and write a piece of music inspired by it and then we'll be releasing all this stuff in an effort to protect these caves as part of a Unesco world heritage bid."

He described the trip as "a very, very different prospect" adding it was "beautifully opposite to everything I've been doing live this year".

Jon, whose latest album was inspired by his love of meditations said the new music "is going to be very much an ambient piece, a sort of drone -based piece of some sort".

    Quote Message

It really depends what effects these caves have on my consciousness. I think it could be a quite radically life-changing experience.

"There's going to be a lot of things to trigger the imagination down there, not to mention a lot of wildlife.

"There's this type of bird that nests in these caves. It's going to be three weeks with no technology and no travel, no flights, none of the things I've been doing recently."

The Kent punk duo nearly had us all fooled last week when guitarist Laurie revealed drummer Isaac leaving the band to head off and pursue a career in dancing.

It all turned out to be a simple lampoon though as Laurie was found auditioning a host of famous drummers - including the gorilla from the Cadbury's ad - in the video for new single Chokehold.

ICYMI That was one of the 5 Things We Learned Last Week.

Now, following the release of new album Acts of Fear and Love, later this month, they'll head out on a November tour of these shores.

Justin Timberlake has defended Pink for cancelling a gig after being spotted relaxing on an Australian beach.

She called off the performance on her Beautiful Trauma tour in Sydney after coming down with a chest infection.

The 38-year-old had been snapped by paparazzi photographers enjoying a day with her family on a beach in Byron.

Speculation followed about why she'd cancelled prompting Pink to respond on Instagram.

Next to the above photo of herself and her daughter, Willow, she wrote: 'I scheduled this tour meticulously, trying to do what was best for my children, while also putting on the best and most physically demanding and beautiful show of my life."

JT then came to her defence, commenting on Pink's post, calling her "the REALEST."

  10. Wilderness: Nile Rodgers has a song up his sleeve 'almost every day'published at 13:10 BST 6 August 2018

The funky songwriter and frontman took his band Chic to the countryside over the weekend to headline day two of the Wilderness festival.

They cranked out hit after hit on their setlist, from Nile's early work on songs like Good Times and Everybody Dance to his tracks with Madonna (Like a Virgin), Diane Ross (I'm Coming Out) and David Bowie (Let's Dance).

His songwriting credentials are beyond reproach, which is perhaps why, mid-set, Chic drummer and unofficial hype man Ralph Rolle recounted his various achievements in music.

Backstage, Nile told Music News LIVE he has an idea for a new song "almost every day" an how much he missed Swedish DJ Avicii who took his own life in April at the age of 28.

"Not many of them become songs but some of the ideas are really cool, they wind up either as full compositions or at least part compositions but I just think of music in general and I don't necessarily worry about where it's going until I have a specific job.

"A lot of the time it just stays in my head as a motif."

He added: "I used to do that with Avicii a lot, I'd come into the studio with like 50 ideas, I used to love writing with Tim, he was amazing."

Nile also hopes to make some difference in the music world with his new honorary position as Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame

"It's one of the coolest things that's ever happened in my life because I want to do something that, after my tenure, it's like, 'OK, we've really made progress in the business'.

    Quote Message

Songwriting is the only part of the business that is almost equally represented by women as it is men, I've never met someone who has said, 'I don't want to sing that song because it's been written by a women,' like that would never happen.

"It's always been a place of good opportunity for women but still not quite equal and I want to try and do something that's makes a difference."

To the Wilderness Festival, external in Oxfordshire now, where three days of music were brought to a close by Bastille on Sunday night.

Some brilliant artists played over a blisteringly hot weekend, including Kamasi Washington, Mahalia, Canadian dance band Chk Chk Chk and Baxter Dury.

Headlining on the first night of the festival at the 5,000 acre Cornbury Estate were French dance duo Justice, aka Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay.

We spoke to the pair on their wonderfully air-conditioned tour bus where they told us about the pressure of a bill topping set.

"To be honest more often we are sub-headliners so the responsibility is not on our shoulders and its more relaxed but we often close festivals or stages," said Xavier.

"I think the key is the audience because we can do whatever we can but its the audience's response and the atmosphere they create that's the key difference."

His bandmate Gaspard agreed adding, "The thing is that when you're closing, you have to get a good balance of alcohol and energy, you don't know if they will be tired after three days of a festival but most of the time they still have energy so it's cool."

Warning: Video below contains flashing images.

Justice perform We Are Your Friends at the Wilderness festival in Oxfordshire

The band drew from their three albums, the most recent being 2016's Woman and put on a spectacular light show for the thousands gathered in front of the main stage.

"There's so many ways to achieve things visually and in a sense it's very minimal because there's no video, no images, just lights but it's light in a sophisticated way," said Xavier.

"It's especially important for acts like us because we're not a band and there's no singer with the charisma of Mick Jagger so there has to be something to see."

And for people who have yet to see Justice live?

"It's difficult to describe in brief. It's... mesmerising maybe?"

US pop singer Demi Lovato has issued her first statement after she was taken to hospital for a suspected drug overdose last month.

In an Instagram post (below) Lovato, 25, wrote: "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction".

"This illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome.".

Lovato has previously spoken about her struggle with addiction, bipolar and eating disorders.

In her statement, the singer thanked her family and medics at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai hospital, saying that "without them I wouldn't be here writing this letter to all of you".

"I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all your love and support."

She said she now needed "time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery," adding, "I will keep fighting".

Stars from around the music world have been paying tribute to Barry Chuckle, one half of the comedy duo the Chuckle Brothers, who has died aged 73 after a short period of ill health.

The entertainer, whose real name was Barry Elliott, starred in ChuckleVision with his brother Paul on the BBC between 1987 and 2009.

Paul said: "I've not just lost my brother, I've lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend."

In tribute, Dua Lipa quoted the pair's famous "To me. To You" catchphrase, adding that they had provided "hours spent in laughter".

New Order/Joy Division bassist Peter Hook described Barry as "a great entertainer" as well as "an avid New Order fan".

And Tinchy Stryder commented that the comedian was a "funny, down to earth, super cool, talented, humble legend."

The Ghanaian/UK rapper actually joined forces with the Yorkshire comics four years ago for a track called To Me, To You (Bruv).

Re-live their performance in the Radio 1 Live Lounge above.
