This is America by Childish Gambino is without doubt one of the most talked about music videos of the year so far, clocking in an impressive 240 million views since its release in May.

It has been greatly analysed and also recreated a LOT - I mean who could forget the Call Me Maybe re-dub, external?

The latest parody to emerge is in the style of video game Fortnite. It features characters from the survival game replicating the original video, but with some flossing added in for good measure.

  3. Get to know Octavianpublished at 15:45 BST 5 June 2018

    Your rapper's favourite rapper

Last night, the South London rapper joined Annie Mac on the phone to chat about his new tune Little, which she dubbed her Hottest Record In The World on Radio 1.

Octavian might not be a name you know... yet, but he's certainly taken the rap world by storm.

At the end of last year, Octavian dropped his breakout tune Party Here, which was quickly approved by a little known artist called Drake.

Drizzy captioned a photo on his Instagram with some of the lyrics from this song. Then, a few days after that, Drake filmed himself singing along to the tune at the Golden Globes afterparty.

Octavian can already count the likes of Giggs, Skepta, Wizkid and Jorja Smith as fans.

Sixteen-year-old Au/Ra aka Jamie Lou Stenzel comes from musical stock.

Her father is German dance producer Tortsen Stenzel and her mum is songwriter Angela Heldmann.

Au/Ra cites her biggest influences as her parents ("it's kind of cheesy") and Lana Del Rey.

Born in Ibiza but raised on the island of Antigua, in the Caribbean, Au/Ra might have just about the coolest upbringing you can imagine.

But it turns out, she's just a regular down-to-earth teenage geek.

"Au/Ra comes from Lord Of The Rings fan fiction that I wrote when I was 12 and the main character was called Auratheil," she explains.

"I really liked it and thought, I'm going to steal it and shortened it and put a slash through it and... boom.

"I'm quite a nerd so I started writing fan fiction, I still do pretty nerdy things."

Nerdy writing habits aside, her track Panic Room, which was remixed by British producers Camelphat, is one of the club hits of the spring.

"Funnily, that style of music isn't really popular in Antigua," she admits. "Everyone listens to reggae and dancehall so I don't think that many people there other than my friends know that it's me.

"But to hear it playing on Radio 1 is insane."

Speaking at The Great Escape, where she was making her UK debut, Au/Ra says she began her live career at the tender age of 13 at the South By South West festival in Texas.

She also admits that she's had to overcome a battle with stage fright.

"Nobody told me at the time that it was a place where industry people were, so I was like, 'It's just some cool people in Austin, chilling to music.

"I had pretty bad stage fright but I've gotten over that in the past two years, which is cool because now I really enjoy performing."

Au/Ra is not the first pop star to suffer performance anxiety, with artists including Zayn Malik, Lorde and even Adele admitting it has nearly had the better of them.

"It was a case of working at it, doing more gigs and getting over myself really, I can be my own worst critic so I had to just get over it and do it."

She says she plans on putting some more music out by the end of the year but her diary is already filling up with summer festivals.

"I always try and find time to make music, to continue creating. I have a studio at home so any time I feel like making music, I ask my dad if we can record something and we just do it.

"He's usually pretty nice about it."

Like we said, regular down to earth teenager.

Jerry Hopkins, the author and veteran journalist for Rolling Stone Magazine, has died at the age of 82.

He is well-known for writing No One Here Gets Out Alive, considered the definitive Doors biography which became a best seller and was later used as the foundation for Oliver Stone's movie about the band in 1991.

He also wrote biographies on Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Elvis Presley and many more.

Jerry first attracted the attention of the Rolling Stone publication after he sent in a review of the Doors Concert at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles.

The writing was so brilliant, they ran it as a full page in the next issue with the headline - The Doors On Stage: Assaulting The Libido.

Jerry chatted to many rock stars over the years, but his favourite character was Jim Morrison.

"Morrison was the most interesting of all the rock stars I met because he was the best conversationalist," Jerry Hopkins told L.A. Weekly back in 2013.

Many are taking to Twitter to pay tribute to the late, great writer.

    And how do we know?

Because he's just told us. In song form.

It's Rick's first single and title track from his new album which is due out on 20 July.

His comeback album 50 was one of the biggest UK sellers of 2016.

It led to him sharing a stage with Foo Fighters (search YouTube for the video proof).

“In the midst of all this madness, I just went back into my little home studio because that’s what I love to do,” Rick said.

"I was tinkering about with bits and pieces and before you know it, I was making a new record."

"Well I am a grandfather, it's true but I don't beat my chest about it. I was rappin' when they was nappin'.

Jalal Mansur Nuriddin, who - under the pseudonym Lightin' Rod - recorded arguably the first ever rap record, Hustler's Convention, has died of cancer at the age of 73.

In a Facebook post (below), his family said: "It is with extreme sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Jalal Nuriddin announce the passing of this great pioneer of the recording industry."

He was one of the founding members of the The Last Poets and influenced a generation of New York rappers such as Chuck D, Ice T and Melle Mel.

We spoke to him when a documentary was made in 2015 about his underground album, which is still a must have for anyone who claims to be a serious hip hop fan.

"I didn't start out as a rapper, rap is just an ingredient in poetry," he said.

"The word rap means indictment, a rap sheet is how many convictions you have, if I rap on a door it's a sharp sound so the literal and figurative definitions of rap in American-English are there.

"The thing I can be happy about is giving youth a voice which they are still using today."

The BBC is to close its iconic Maida Vale Studios, which have played host to generations of pop stars, from The Beatles to Adele.

Director general Tony Hall announced the closure on Tuesday morning, saying the complex would be replaced by a new, state-of-the-art facility at the Olympic Park in east London.

It means the BBC will "be able to record and broadcast more live music than ever before," he added.

It is expected to be ready by 2022.

The Studios were the home of the famed Radiophonic Workshop and host live sessions for the BBC's radio networks including 6 Music Live (with alt J, above).

The pop star has said she is coping with the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder following last year’s attack at Manchester Arena.

She has opened up in this month's edition of Vogue, telling the magazine.

"It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss. But, yeah, it's a real thing," she said.

"I feel like I shouldn't even be talking about my own experience - like I shouldn't even say anything.

"I don't think I'll ever know how to talk about it and not cry," she added.

The Radiohead frontman and occasional solo star has provided the soundtrack to a remake of the classic Dario Argento Italian horror Suspiria and tweeted about it (below).

The music seems to match the psychological thrills perfectly with some suitably jarring chords and a building sense of terror.

At least that's what we thought - decide yourselves above.
