Royal Blood's manager has warned fans against filming at their shows after a number of thefts during the band's UK tour.

The group's manager, Ian McAndrew, tells Newsbeat that recording at concerts could make fans a target for thieves.

A man was arrested after Royal Blood's Birmingham gig, accused of taking 53 phones.

"They operate on the floors, not generally the seated areas," Ian told Newsbeat.

"It tends to be around the mosh pits of shows, the more crowded and compact areas. That's where people need to be most vigilant."

Yates said in a statement: "I'm hugely apologetic for this flippant comment."

He was speaking to DJ Chuckie Lothian in an episode of Halfcast Podcast, which was recently shared on SoundCloud.

  8. Newbie Tuesday #3: Hey Charlie...rocking your (knee) socks offpublished at 13:13 GMT 21 November 2017

    Paul Glynn
    Music News LIVE reporter

    Hey CharlieImage source, Phoebe Fox

Back in the early 90s, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain declared their brand of grunge rock to be a rejection of the prevailing US football jock culture.

Remember the ironic cheerleader-filled sports hall video for Smells Like Teen Spirit, external, anyone?

Well now, 25 years on, are the cheerleaders finally about to get their rock 'n' roll revenge?

New UK grunge trio Hey Charlie are out to prove that girls wearing matching mini skirts, T-shirts and college sports jackets can still rock as hard as Kurt - or anyone else for that matter.

Their Humbug era Arctic Monkeys-sounding track She Looks Like a Dreamer contains the lyrics:

"Girls can be pretty / Girls can be cute / But don't [mess] with them because they'll...[mess] with you".

    Got it?

Singer and bassist Sophie told us: "We're trying to break the stereotypes of a 'rock musician'.

"The lyrics to that song pretty much sum up our thoughts in terms of how girls dress and act.

    Quote Message

You can do and be whatever you want to be. It doesn't matter if you wanna wear matching outfits and mini skirts you can still be bad ass and you can still be powerful."

We can't bring you that one, due to the "powerful" language contained within but you can find it on their YouTube channel.

Instead here are the girls - who first emerged through BBC Introducing Shropshire - re-affirming their ability to do "what we want, when we want" in the title-track to their EP Young & Lonesome...

The now London-based rockers performed their first ever headline show last week in their new home city, having just finished supporting All Time Low on their first ever tour., external

"We had a lot of fun. It was a bit different, but sort of better as everyone was there to see us!", jokes Sophie.

They were invited to traverse Europe with the Baltimore rockers after they selected the girls' track Hey on their Radio 1 Artist Takeover playlist.

Singer Alex even surprised the band by joining them on stage one night, clad in full Hey Charlie outfit, for their sing along cover of Wheatus's Teenage Dirtbag.

Not a bad start then, for the band who have been going for only a year.

"We were playing 5,000 capacity venues the first time our parents had ever seen us play!"

    Image caption,

    Head girls

Sophie plays alongside guitarist/singer Lizz and the final piece of the Charlie jigsaw; drummer/singer Lauren.

So far they've been determined to make the band work on their own terms.

"We had this vision for the band; three girls, matching outfits - and we wanted to make it happen.

"I remember Reading and Leeds Festivals got a lot of flack about a lack of female acts and that was at the stage when we were still forming a girl band.

"So that was a driving force."

She added: "It's more difficult for women or young girls making in it in a male dominated industry. But there have been those acts like the Runaways and Joan Jett who were inspiring for us.

    Quote Message

So a feminist take and 'girl power' is really important for us, especially for young girls who might be afraid of doing what we do.

    Hey CharlieImage source, Phoebe Fox

"We found that going round Europe, loads of young girls came up to us saying 'oh my God, we loved your set...I play bass, I play guitar, I want to start a girl band now!'

"So that's important for us to inspire young girls and just young people to pick up their instruments and just do it."

Whatever you may have read today on here about the Spice Girls "not happening" again anytime soon...rest assured that girl power is still very much in bloom, external.

  9. Miguel has Hottest Record...Told You Sopublished at 12:51 GMT 21 November 2017

    BBC Radio 1

That's not us being smug about a prediciton.

That's the name of the track from the LA-based R&B singer.

DJ Annie Mac describes him as a "gentle calm dude" with a "voice like velvet".

The track is taken from his terribly named album War & Leisure (sorry Miguel but those two things do not go together well), which is out on Friday.

    Luis FonsiImage source, Getty Images

If you tried (and like Justin Bieber, failed) to sing along to the Spanish verses in the hit of the summer, then you might want to look away now.

The song is due for a Spanish/Mandarin makeover courtesy of Luis Fonsi and Singaporean artist JJ Lin.

They've reorded the new version for the lucrative Chinese market, where the original has not been released.

In the new cut, Fonsi sings in Mandarin, and Lin sings in Spanish and it's due to premiere later today.

Lin told Billboard “I had immense fun... Music breaks all boundaries in a most pleasant way. I see this collaboration as a cultural bridge, as well as a tribute to a generation of free people.”

The song scooped a hatful of Latin Grammys at the weekend.

  12. Paloma Faith on course to replace Taylor Swift at top of the UK chartpublished at 11:39 GMT 21 November 2017

She's already had the biggest selling album of the year in the US but Tay Tay's reign at the top of the UK chart could come to an... ahem... swift end on Friday.

New mama Paloma Faith is leading the chart at the midpoint this week with her new album The Architect.

It's around 4,000 combined chart sales over nearest rival, Morrissey's Low In High School at number two. But will his recent controversial comments stop his sales in their tracks?

Number three is Britain's Got Talent winner Tokio Myers with Sam Smith’s The Thrill Of It All at four and Jeff Lynn’s ELO at five.

The birthday girl said: "I’m in love with Kelela, I think she’s incredible on every level. I love Serpent With Feet, I like him a lot. Anohni, I think she’s genius. I mean, I like a composer called Jurg Frey, who’s from Switzerland. I love Rihanna, she’s the best.”

  14. 'Greatest rapper' Kendrick Lamar bags Q Mag album of the yearpublished at 10:49 GMT 21 November 2017

    Q Magazine

The rapper formerly known as K-Dot has pulled off a shock by topping the list of the usually guitar-heavy Q Magazine's album of the year poll.

His album Damn is "beyond even Jay-Z's reach" according the music mag. And after everything Jay has done for America too (scroll down)...

    Stay humble now Kenny.

Rough Trade recently went for Aldous Harding's Party as their #1 album of 2017 but she doesn't even make Q's top ten.

Q editor Ted Kessler said, in this month's edition: "...the top ten makes a good case for us all living through a golden age. Just look at that top three!

"Wolf Alice cementing their place as Britain's most dynamic young band, LCD Soundsystem back from the dead but as good as new (maybe better even), and the greatest rapper alive Kendrick Lamar continues to raise the bar beyond even Jay Z's reach.

"2018 has a lot to live up to."

Confusingly Gorillaz album Humanz, which won best album at the recent Q Awards, just makes the top five.

  15. Josh Homme under (cigarette) firepublished at 10:22 GMT 21 November 2017

    Manchester Evening News

    Josh HommeImage source, Getty Images

Queens of the Stone hero Josh Homme made himself the villain of the piece this week after pictures emerged of him sparking up a cigarette on stage at the Manchester Arena on Sunday night.

Josh we love your new album - but it's not big and it's not clever.

According to the Manchester Evening News, external, the frontman admitted to the crowd that he was "a little drunk" on stage. Now he could be hit with a fine to go with yesterday's potential hangover headache.

The MEN says the venue - who could in theory lose their license after smoking indoors was banned in England in 2007 - has reported the issue to Homme's management.

We doubt that Abby (below) meant to dob Josh in but you can see the star enjoying a crafty fag.

In a statement, the Arena said: “It is very disappointing and regrettable that the artist chose to smoke on stage during their performance in Manchester.

"This was an individual decision taken by the artist, despite us making it very clear to their management that it is illegal to smoke in any area of the arena.

"We are extremely vigilant in ensuring our venue remains a no-smoking environment and our extensive front of house ‘no smoking’ signage is duplicated throughout our backstage area.”

"You can be anything you want to be in this world," said the second richest rapper in the world.
