We'll leave you with a request from Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie (above), who is pleading with fans not to kiss him during gigs.

The singer has made a point of doing a "death walk" into the crowd at live shows and some Panic! fans can apparently tend to get a bit lippy with him.

Speaking on a livestream (with a language warning, external) he told fans: "I went in for a hug and a girl like, kissed my neck.

"The neck kiss is so intimate too... please stop kissing me on the death walk.”

His tour manager Zack Cloud Hall has gone one further. Kiss him and you will be kicked out.

The 77-year-old music legend of Funkadelic and Parliament fame says his US tour this spring and summer will be his last.

“It’s coming right on time,” he told Rolling Stone.

“I would love to keep on doing this but I’ll be 78 in a few more months. Even though I feel like I’m just getting started, the reality is the group needs to go ahead and keep it going.

"We’ve got a new vibe in the band, and they’ve been carrying it for the last three years. I’ve been up there representing for people, but they’ve actually been turning the place out."

In 2014, he released his brilliantly-titled memoir, Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?

Parliament released Medicaid Fraud Dogg in 2018.

Side Piece, external - about a man being firmly told he is no more than a bit on the side - could just be one of the fiercest songs a young woman has sung about a man since Amy Winehouse's Stronger Than Me.

But does Mae Muller's lyrical target know the song is about him?

"It’s not really specifically about one person," she laughs. "It could be about a few people.

"Although that sounds really bad."

Okaay...

"You know what, I think the aim of that song was just to show people - and a lot of people know this but you be surprised how many people don’t - that women can write about the things that men do.

"Men write about having multiple girls all the time and I just thought, why can’t a girl do that? It’s not too serious but I thought I might as well have fun with it."

The song is taken from the 20-year-old Highgate native's debut EP Frankly, which was released in November.

Her parents both work in the creative industries - her dad is a stage manager and her mum is a theatre dresser.

But from an early age, it was music that captured Mae's attention.

"I remember in primary school me and my friends had this little band and we would write songs and we were called the Diamond Devils.

"We had no idea what we were doing, we would go to each other’s houses and write songs. We never did anything with them, but it was a nice fantasy for a while."

While the likelihood is that we will sadly never get to hear the seminal work of the DDs, her brush with primary school (imaginary) fame gave her a taste for performing. That and a trip to her see her idol Gwen Stefani (pictured above) when she was seven.

"Musically we're quite different but I saw her and thought, I want to do that. Her look was so strong in every way, she made a brand for herself. I thought she was a badass.

"Now, I love Rhianna. She knows how to go with the times."

Frankly is a difficult EP to pigeonhole and takes its cues from several genres, opening with the ska-lite Busy Tone, through the hip-hop boastfulness of Side Piece to the sparse bluesy ballad Maybe (which you can hear below), which closes it.

"I don’t really like to put it in a box," says Mae. "I like to do a few different things. it’s very British. I don’t like to lose my accent, I like to sing the way I talk and be open and honest.

"If I had to say it’s probably a mix of R&B and pop but I’m seeing how it goes."

Her confessional style also brings to mind Lily Allen, and she could pass for her her younger, sister, albeit with looks more akin to a young Madonna.

It's a comparison with which Mae is happy.

"I get that a lot, which I take as a compliment because we're both very strong women who are very honest and very cutting.

"When [Lily's] first album came out, I was about nine, and I was singing along to these insanely rude lyrics. No idea what I was singing but that influenced me a lot."

Now signed to Capitol Records, Mae has been working in the studio with some big name producers - Two Inch Punch aka Ben Ash (a regular collaborator with the likes of Years & Years, Rag N' Bone Man and Anne-Marie) produced three of her singles and she has also been spending some quality time with Jimmy Napes.

He is best known for producing Sam Smith's best work (including his Oscar-winning 007 theme song).

"He [Jimmy] is so great. The first session I had with him, I was like, 'This is sick'. He's just really cool. Of course he has this big reputation but he is very humble."

She adds she almost met Sam once but it didn't happen.

"It's such a non-story," she laughs. "We were going to have a meeting with like lunch and tea and stuff and I was really excited and they were like, 'Yeah Sam can't make it.'"

Maybe she'll put in in a song one day. Non-meeting with celebs aside, Mae says some of her best songs come from hard times.

"Writing is an outlet and protection for me. If I’m feeling a certain way, if I’m feeling very sad and down, I won't write a sad song. I’ll write something that makes me feel really empowered and happy and that protects me.

"Because it’s like my weapon and its harder to do that in real life. It's just a good way to get it out. It’s harder to talk about your feelings to people rather than being in the studio making a story out of it."

They have played gigs accompanied by a 10ft-tall inflatable marsupial on stage, but it was very much a stripped-back, faithful cover of the late country star's classic ballad for Phil Taggart's Chillest Show.

The country icon was being interviewed by singer-songwriter Linda Perry at the Grammy Museum, where an exhibition dedicated to Dolly is being staged this month.

Dolly is being honoured by the Grammy Foundation, which is naming her 2019 MusiCares Person of the Year at a gala on Friday in celebration of her philanthropic work.

During the interview, Linda Perry tells Dolly she will be part of a medley of songs at the gala's climax, with artists including Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves and Miley Cyrus also taking part.

The Grammy Awards are being held on Sunday night.

Following on from Susan Boyle and Paul Potts, multi-instrumentalist Tokio Myers is the latest Britain's Got Talent graduate to wow American TV audiences.

On his very first visit to the United States, the 2017 champion recreated his BGT-winning performance mashing up Debussy's Clair De Lune with Ed Sheeran's Bloodstream.

Two years on, it hasn't lost any of its wow factor.

Specifically, that she is not yet in it.

The bassist and singer has been speaking to Billboard, external about her omission from that most holy of American rock music Halls, saying it's "disgusting" that she hasn't been inducted.

“I’m a real stickler for the truth, and I’m pissed off that history is being rewritten. I was first, right?," argued Suzi. "I was there before anybody else had a twinkle in their eye - that’s a fact of life."

Hitting her stride, she added: "I’m happy that I opened a door because that door needed to be opened. I’m so proud of that, and I get thanked by everybody - all the girls, they all say ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you…’"

One of the first female rock stars, she sold 55 million records and her number one singles include Can The Can and Devil Gate Drive.

She also had a recurring role on Happy Days (pictured below) as Leather Tuscadero, the rebellious younger sister of The Fonz's girlfriend, Pinky.

In 2017, she told our reporter Mark Savage about her "Ego Room".

River Deep - Mountain High is the first single to be released from the upcoming Tina Turner musical cast album.

It features actress and singer Adrienne Warren, who has played the lead role in the hit West End production since its world premiere.

The original 1966 song was produced by Phil Spector using his trademark Wall of Sound technique.

Tina said of the recording: "I must have sung that 500,000 times. I was drenched with sweat. I had to take my shirt off and stand there in my bra to sing”.

Canadian firm Sunrise Records has bought HMV, beating competition from Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley.

The company will buy 100 stores out of administration, securing 1,487 jobs.

But 27 stores will close, resulting in 455 redundancies.

Sunrise Records chief executive Doug Putman said he was "delighted to acquire the most iconic music and entertainment business in the UK".

HMV collapsed in December after a disappointing Christmas, entering administration for the second time in six years.

The Beatles star has been presented with the coveted badge for inspiring generations of people with his music.

To aspiring songwriters Sir Paul said: "The only advice really is to do it... a lot.

"I have a songwriting class and the first thing I say to them is 'Look I don't really know how to do this' and at first they kind of look at me, but when you think about it there is no formula.

Of his new badge - the highest honour the long-running children's programme - he added he will "wear it with great pride".

Skepta's latest track Wish You Were Here is a dig at his verbal sparring partner Wiley.

The pair have some form after Wiley called Skepta and Dizzee “frauds” when they recorded another track about him.

Earlier this year, Skepta apparently attended Wiley's birthday party put an end to any disagreement and perform but, as the lyrics attest, it didn't go according to plan.

"You said you were my brother but you weren’t there / Came to squash beef but you weren’t there."

You'll have to find it online yourselves though and consider yourselves warned about language.

Wonder if he'll perform the track when he headlines this year's Field festival at its new location in north east London’s Meridian Water?

After all, it's not a million miles from Wiley's native Bow.

The pop star will top the bill at this year's festival in August, organisers have announced.

They called Kylie an "LGBTQ icon".

She tweeted: "BRIGHTON! It’s happening! Can’t wait to celebrate #Pride with you all on August 3rd".

Other acts announced for this year's event include Grace Jones and Jessie J and Clean Bandit.

Last year's festival was headlined by Britney Spears.

Lawyers for the rapper says he will fight to stay in the US after immigration agents arrested him, saying is British and residing in America illegally.

Savage - whose real name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph - came to America in July 2005 aged 12 and failed to leave when his visa expired a year later, according to US officials.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers say the star was convicted of drug charges in 2014 and his arrest on Sunday was a "targeted operation".

His lawyer accused the US of trying to "intimidate" the rapper into leaving.

Meanwhile the rapper has received support from his contemporaries with Cardi B taking to Instagram to say: "We will read and educate ourselves on this situation and we will take action!

"21 did not come here illegally and was not caught doing anything illegal or doing any mischief! in fact he have change his whole life around and as ya can see he’s been very positive in his actions and music!"

And she's not the only artist to pledge support for the 26-year-old.
