Back in BCN, Lorde performed a popular rendition of Frank Ocean's Lost, which has been doing the rounds.

Jack White played a selection of White Stripes, Raconteurs and solo hits.

It's fair to say that Mancunian miserablist Moz has got a few people's backs up of late, with his comments over racism, Hitler being 'left wing' and aligning himself with extreme right wing of UK politics.

His former bandmate, Marr, however, believes that Morrissey's recent controversial views won't negatively impact the Manchester band's history.

Speaking to Consequence of Sound, Marr said: “I don’t really worry about very much, these days.

"I don’t really think you can change people’s relationship with songs and the songs are what they are”.

The pair met for the first time in 10 years back in late 2016 and did flirt with the idea of getting the old band back together.

The guitarist went on to tell CoS's Kyle Meredith about how Depeche Mode influenced several of the songs on his forthcoming album, Call the Comet, which is out next week.

The US singer hosted a Twitter Q&A yesterday and was asked by a fan to name the best prank she had ever pulled.

In an apparently now deleted Tweet, Demi responded:

I hired a lady of the night in Vegas and sent her to Max’s hotel room to surprise him. She walked into his room without permission and grabbed him in his ‘area’ and he freaked the [bleep] out hahahahaha.

The Sorry Not Sorry star has now said sorry but was at pains to point out that she takes sexual assault seriously, having been a victim of it herself.

She address the topic in her 2013 track Warrior, which you can here below.

  7. Big Narstie speaks out about mental health: ‘Sometimes I want to sit and cry'published at 13:16 BST 4 June 2018

    Big Narstie

Rapper Big Narstie's speaking out about mental health in this month's Big Issue, saying he often wants to sit and cry, and urges people to open up about their issues.

    Quote Message

People like myself who are in the public eye can highlight these situations too, and we need to do it. With great power comes great responsibility. I want to show people my successful side, but I want to show you my bipolar side too. Yeah, sometimes I just want to sit in my boxer shorts and cry. That’s what being a human is. It’s OK to have up days. It’s OK to have down days.

Narstie acts as an agony uncle for young people through his alter ego, Uncle Pain, on YouTube and is to release a new album, BDL Bipolar, which addresses his own mental health problems.

"Remember it’s OK to talk to people and let them know you’re not OK," he said.

"Don’t think it’s something you have to keep to yourself to fit in or to be normal. There’s no such thing as normal.”

    Big Narstie

He goes on to address violence among young people, saying it's a “result of their background” and they have “no way of reaching out”.

“You’ve got to look at it like this: in a simple experiment, if you take one child and leave him in a perfect and comfortable environment, and you leave another child in a destructive and aggressive environment, you’ll see different symptoms,” he said.

    Quote Message

Part of the problem is a lot of kids have kids and then can’t cope. If a kid is born into a tough situation with no means of dealing with it, you end up with kids who are mentally ill and have no way of reaching out. How can you hope to get out?

"You’re broke, crammed in a tight place and you’ve got no release. You’re giving out all the CVs you can and you’re still not getting anything.

“You’re stressed out and want to vent, but you’re trapped.”

  8. Duran Duran to take over BBC Fourpublished at 12:56 BST 4 June 2018

    Media caption,

Watch on 29 June, from 9pm as Duran Duran take over BBC Four for the night.

In the immortal words of Simon Le Bon: "Some people call it a one night stand but we can call it paradise."

Pop band Duran Duran are taking over BBC Four for one night in June, with a pair of newly-filmed documentaries.

The highlight is set to be Duran Duran: A Night In - which sees the band taking a Gogglebox-style trip through the TV, movies and adverts that inspired them.

Duran Duran: There's Something You Should Know will take an in-depth look at the band's turbulent history.

The documentary will feature previously unseen archive footage and rare demo tapes, as well as the group's memories of the 40 years that have passed since they first formed in 1978 in Birmingham.

Cindy Crawford, Boy George, Mark Ronson, and Nile Rodgers will all feature in the documentary, alongside Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor.

A Night In, meanwhile, will feature footage of Blade Runner, Barbarella, Tomorrow's World, Prince, Roxy Music and even kids' show Roobarb and Custard as the band take a trip down memory lane.

    Duran DuranImage source, Getty Images

"Without the BBC, there would be no Duran Duran," said bassist John Taylor, in a statement announcing BBC Four's Boys on Film night.

"Forty years ago this October, the BBC first aired Barbarella. It was while watching that late-night screening of the Jane Fonda sci-fi epic that members of a burgeoning Birmingham post-punk band decided the name of one of the film's characters - Durand Durand - would make for a cool and unusual band name.

"The BBC provided us with a constant stream of the best contemporary music throughout the '70s, just when we were coming of age and finding ourselves as individuals and future artists. Everybody who was anybody went through the doors of Top of the Pops and The Old Grey Whistle Test, and we were there soaking it all in, so it is with great pleasure we present our curated night of music on BBC Four.

"These documentaries and clips have allowed us to explore the origins of the band through personal experiences and cultural touchstones. Even the savviest fans will find surprises."

Boys on Film - A Night with Duran Duran will be broadcast on BBC Four on Friday, 29 June, from 21:00 BST.

  9. New Kanye album - Ye or Ney?published at 12:28 BST 4 June 2018

    Rolling Stone magazine

    Kanye WestImage source, PA

On Friday we told you how - after a star-studded listening party in the Wyoming mountains - Kanye had dropped his new album, Ye.

Well now the critics have had the weekend to digest the new album, which will have been made easier by the fact that it only contains seven tracks.

The NME, external gave it 3/5, saying; "Kanye West’s modestly formed eighth record is a meditation on marriage, mental health, and addiction."

The Guardian, external offered only three stars too, calling it; "self-righteous, soulful and still shocking."

While Pitchfork, external wrote; "Kanye West’s stint in Wyoming created an album born from chaos for chaos’ sake. Though it can be somewhat fascinating, it is undoubtedly a low-point in his career."

    Ouch.

As reported in Rolling Stone magazine, external, the rapper himself invited Big Boy TV along to the randomly-located album launch and explained his thought process behind the record, which he overhauled following his controversial slavery comments to TMZ.

"We just sat there and really honed in on the words," he said.

"Also, we know now, it's all headlines... Every bar can be used... I took a bar off the album. It was just too sensitive about that topic and stuff."

He added: "I wanted something with the energy the universe was giving me.

    Quote Message

I think it came from me just going against mass opinion and I was able to find my voice, my voice… I just had to stand in front of that board every morning and ask myself, 'Do these songs truly make me happy? Are these songs I want to play back? Do these songs make me cry?

Well some of the reviews might.

  10. Beygood for tickets to see Beyonce and Jay-Zpublished at 11:54 BST 4 June 2018

Jay-Z and BeyonceImage source, Getty Images

Beyonce and Jay-Z have announced an initiative that means fans can receive free tickets for their OTR II tour in exchange for good deeds.

The BeyGOOD initiative sees the two music giants teaming up with The Prince’s Trust and Global Citizen, to reward fans who volunteer through these organisations for performing acts of kindness and charity.

"Beyonce understands the importance of giving young people who have faced setbacks in life the chance of a brighter future," said The Prince's Trust chief executive, Nick Stace.

As well as the competition for free tickets, an auction has also been launched for the chance to win VIP tickets for most of the upcoming dates on the stars' stadium tour.

The concerts kick off in Cardiff on Wednesday, 6 June, before heading across the UK and Ireland and into mainland Europe.

It is the second time the power couple have hit the road together, following 2014's On The Run Tour - which was launched with a video depicting the couple as bank robbers trying to evade the police (a riff on their joint single '03 Bonnie & Clyde).

Ever the showman, Nick then treated the crowd to the classic dad joke suggestion that he should, ahem, Be So Lucky, while thanking Kyles for her contribution.

Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie watched on from the crowd but at a safe distance this time after having inadvertently become part of the show at one of Nick's last London gigs.

Earlier in the day another charming Australian, Courtney Barnett, shone bright one again with a raft of riveting electric guitar vignettes about mundane topics such as walking home, flat hunting and gardening-induced asthma attacks.

This followed her recent blistering Belfast set at the Biggest Weekend show in Belfast.

And the high priestess of punk, Patti Smith, delivered an almost biblical performance/lecture on life and love, including a cover of John Lennon's Mind games ("love is the answer") and a red hot rendition of her classic beat rock 'n' roll poem Land of a Thousand Dances, which merged into her biggest hit Gloria.

"I love playing when it’s still light out", she told the gathered thousands.

    "Because I can see everybody."

Shared on the LA tattoo parlour's social media, one tattoo, hidden behind his ear, is the black bunny ears mask that Grande wore on her Dangerous Woman album cover.

The other is of Grande's initials, 'AG', etched on his thumb.

Social media have been feeling a little nervous about this permanent inkage.

Speaking of Ariana, today marks the one year anniversary of the One Love Manchester gig, which the singer rapidly organised in the wake of the attack at her concert which killed 22 people.

Stars like Miley Cyrus, Coldplay and Liam Gallagher all performed at Old Trafford Cricket Ground to honour the dead and raise funds for their families.

  15. Taylor Swift sends 'love' and 'respect' to LGBT fanspublished at 09:50 BST 4 June 2018

    Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has told fans she is sending 'love' and 'respect' to LGBT people who haven't felt comfortable coming out yet.

She made the passionate speech on stage at Chicago's Soldier Field to mark the start of Pride Month.

    Quote Message

It's very brave to be vulnerable about your feelings in any sense, in any situation. But it's even more brave to be honest about your feelings and who you love. You know that that might be met with adversity from society. So this month, and every month, I want to send out my love and respect to everybody who has been brave enough to be honest about the way they feel, to live their lives as they are, as they feel they should be, as they identify.

    Taylor Swift

She continued the positive message, saying:

"And this is a month where I think we need to celebrate how far we've come, but we also need to acknowledge how far we still have left to go.

"I want to send my love and respect out to everybody who in their journey hasn't yet felt comfortable enough to come out, and may you do that in your own time."

"May we end up in a world where everyone can live and love equally and no one has to be afraid to be vulnerable and say how they feel."

Like a true pro, Taylor concluded her heartfelt speech by segueing smoothly into one of her own new tracks.

"When it comes to feelings and when it comes to love and searching for someone to spend your whole life with, it's all just really really delicate, external."
