Either Katy was just being incredibly generous at the One Love Malibu event on Sunday or she just wanted to keep a close eye on him.

The 34-year-old US singer, who performed some of her hits at the California fundraiser for those affected by the wildfires, bid $50,000 (£39,016) for a date with (maybe) her own fella.

To be honest we're not exactly 100% sure of the current status of their relationship but they've stepped out publicly together again recently.

The auction included a motorcycle ride with the Lord of the Rings actor and then a lunch date.

According to Billboard, external, while introducing the prize, Katy said: "You’re holding him in a way that I am not excited about.

One fan, Laura, bid $20,000 (£15,606) for the above delights before KP decided to outbid her.

“Laura, I’m sorry. I’m buying it for $50,000,” she declared, dropping her mic and walking offstage.

Unlucky Laura.

Like any good new hubby US singer Nick Jonas has described his wedding to Priyanka Chopra as the "happiest day of my life."

The pair have sold their wedding pics from the epic-sounding India bash to People mag but you can sneak a peak of a few above and below.

The US singer/rapper - aka Donald Glover - has announced a second big London date for next year.

His This Is America tour was already scheduled to arrive at the capital's O2 Arena on 24 March 2019 but he'll now stay for a second night on 25 March too.

Tickets for the gigs, which have been rescheduled following Glover's foot injury which brought the tour to a halt in October/November - go on sale on Friday.

A fan-shot trailer of Glover's forthcoming film with Rihanna, entitled Guava Island, was leaked online a few weeks back, at his Pharos festival in New Zealand.

There's no getting away from it, Brighton is a musical town.

From Fatboy Slim, to The Kooks and British Sea Power, the city by the seaside has borne some big names.

Now add to that list, singer-songwriter Grace Carter. She began playing guitar and piano at the age of 13, and by 14 she was writing her own songs.

But it could have been very different

"For a very long time, tennis was the thing I thought I was going to pursue," she explains on the phone from San Francisco, where she supported Irish singer Dermot Kennedy.

"I trained five days a week throughout my whole childhood and that was my focus. When I was nine I moved from London to Brighton and I went through a lot of stress and frustration because I had a single mum and I didn’t really understand why.

"When I was 13, my mum met my stepdad who is a musician and he saw a lot of pain in me that he carried through his own childhood. So he suggested to me that I use music as a way of talking about the things I’d never been able to say out loud."

Channelling the pain, she felt, led her to write her first song, Blank White Page, which she insists will never again see the light of day.

"It has been heard before at shows I did when I was starting out. When I first got my guitar, I was determined to learn to play it in about a week because I was a tennis kid.

"I was like, 'I don’t know what else to write about so I’m going to write a song about trying to write a song'."

If the metaphor of a blank page was pretty deep for a 13-year old, she says it's largely down to her mum.

"As a kid she would call me emotionally intelligent, I was always trying to analyse stuff I was dealing with. I’ve always been a pretty deep thinker."

Of that first song, she adds, with a laugh: "It now lives on my old laptop and that’s where it’s going to remain.".

If Grace's first effort missed the mark, her subsequent songs have landed squarely on target, singing to an ex lover about how he discarded her like a cigarette on the haunting Silhouette (above) which was championed by BBC Music Introducing earlier in the year.

Even more poignantly, Grace sings about her about biological father walking out on her and her mum on her latest single Why Her Not Me.

"I definitely have my moments with that song. I wrote it a few years ago and it was one of the first songs that I wrote, that really went into what I was dealing with, which was my dad leaving me and my mum to live another life with another family.

"I’m really happy that I’m able to talk about things openly and hopefully it will help other people try to have confidence in themselves, to open up a bit more and realise that actually whatever they're going through, other people are going through the same."

Recently tipped by YouTube as one of its artists to watch in 2019, external, the 20-year-old has supported Haim and Dua Lipa on tour.

"I’ve had the most amazing opportunities and I’m learning so much from them. I just watched people that I love, playing every night I learnt so much from them."

And there are worse people to tour with than a young women who picked up two Brit awards this year and looks set to land a few Grammy nominations on Friday.

"She works so hard," Grace says of Dua. "Another thing I took from her is, even if you’re having an awful day, keep a smile on your face and be polite and respectful and have fun and make the most of the situation.

"She takes everything as it comes and works extremely hard and shows respect to everyone, she is just a lovely person."

Grace has had a punishing schedule of late, what with the support slots, plus her own dates in Europe and the US tour dates.

"To be honest with you I didn’t think my voice was going to hold-up at all, I’ve been super paranoid about it," she says. "I have a face mask I wear on flights that stops you from getting colds and I steam every single day but I think the main thing is I just eat healthy.

"I just said I’m eating healthily and I’m actually just having a breakfast pizza so not doing too well. It’s got loads of cheddar cheese and bacon and egg, it was on the menu and it looked exciting."

The singer is currently working on an EP, with views to an album later in 2019.

While she has been picking up new fans across the industry, Grace says that it's when fans get in touch to tell her how much her songs mean to them, that she feels most fulfilled.

"It's the most powerful thing, it’s like, I write the songs for me to process situations but when other people listen to them and connect with them... that to me is the biggest compliment ever because that’s what I want to achieve.

"Whenever I get a message like that, it puts a smile on my face."

The Girlfriend star will top the bill at London's All Points East Festival in Victoria Park on 26 May.

The French singer will headline after Metronomy, Maribou State, Beach House and Kurt Vile and the Violators.

DJ Martin Solveig has apologised to Women's Ballon d'Or winner Ada Hegerberg for asking her after she collected her award if she knew "how to twerk".

The Frenchman, 42, said Lyon and Norway forward Hegerberg - who answered "no" - had told him after the ceremony she "understood it was a joke".

Hegerberg told BBC Sport she "didn't consider it sexual harassment".

The 23-year-old was named the inaugural winner of the award, which recognises the world's best player, in Paris.

Solveig was playing music throughout the ceremony, and also danced with Hegerberg to Frank Sinatra, as well male France striker Kylian Mbappe to Drake's God's Plan.

"This was a joke," said the DJ afterwards, "probably a bad one and I want to apologise."

The New Note Orchestra, the only orchestra whose members are all in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, has been nominated for a music award for a work in which the musicians tell the stories of their addiction and redemption.

It's the first orchestra of its kind, says founder Molly Mathieson

"What's surprising is that nobody has done this before. We are completely and utterly unique, there is no other recovery orchestra in the world, which is kind of amazing."

Member Dan Blomfield, a recovering alcoholic says the nomination at the British Composer Awards, which are held later tonight in London, is "an honour".

"The nomination is for the music that we're doing, not the journey that we've been on," he told the BBC.

"That's an amazing side story and there's many of them, but we're actually being appreciated for the music for the quality of the work."

NG and his High Flying B's will perform at Manchester's Heaton Park on 7 June.

It will be the first time Noel has played there, since one of his very last Oasis gigs in 2009.

They'll be joined by the returning Doves, who the singer/songwriter told Radio X are "one of the great Manchester bands of all time".

South Africa's police minister had to defend officers after a spate of robberies after the gig on Sunday, according to the AFP news agency.

Superstars Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z all performed at the charity event in Johannesburg to mark 100 years since the birth of late former South African leader Nelson Mandela.

Tens of thousands flocked to the FNB Stadium for the concert, which also featured appearances from Pharrell Williams, Usher, Oprah Winfrey, Naomi Campbell and current South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Fans tweeted reports of stabbings and robberies as people left the event and criticised police for an apparent lack of protection.

AFP quotes police minister Bheki Cele as saying the chaos was the organisers' fault: "There is no need to blame South African police that there was no Uber, there was no transport and all that - that should be asked from the organisers,"

A statement from Global Citizen, which organised the event, said "after such an inspiring evening, we are saddened to hear the challenges people had while leaving the venue".

The double Brits-winner is the most-streamed female artist in the UK so far this year, according to figures from both Spotify and Apple Music.

One Kiss, her track with Calvin Harris, was the second most-streamed track on both services, behind Drake's God's Plan.

Her self-titled album was the third most-streamed record in the UK, and the fourth globally, on Spotify.

The star, who won best female at this year's Brits, is expected to pick up her first Grammy nominations on Friday.

Which of course means it may or may not ever see the light of day.

Universal Pictures has bought the rights to a number of classic songs from the late singer's extensive back catalogue, reports Variety, and is developing a musical inspired by them.

Apparently it is not a biopic (who on earth could play Prince?) but the songs will be used to drive a fictional narrative.

According to Variety, Universal already felt a biopic was not needed because Prince already played himself in his 1984 movie Purple Rain.

The article also mentions Mamma Mia, which gives you all a picture of the kind of film planned.

But hopefully with less Pierce Brosnan singing.

You really couldn't make this one up.

US rapper Soulja Boy has apologised after becoming one of a host of celebs to be tricked into recording anti-Semitic video messages online.

The Pretty Boy Swag rapper was one of several public figures, including comedian Andy Dick and former NFL player Brett Favre, who were paid to post clips on social media site Cameo unwittingly in support for a white supremacist group.

Cameo allows people to pay celebs for video messages, with Soulja charging $100 a pop.

“Shoutout to Handsome Truth and Sway at GDL,” Soulja Boy said in a now deleted video, referring to the group's leaders, as BuzzFeed, external reports.

“I was tricked,” Souljaboy admitted to The New York Times, external.

“I apologise to anyone I offended. I thought it was just a shout out for a fan. I didn’t know it had a negative meaning behind it.”

Cameo has told BuzzFeed News it was unaware the messages supported anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Speaking to Music News LIVE, the site's founder Steven Galanis said his team were "sickened" to learn about the source of Soulja Boy's shout outs.

He said Cameo had a database of groups and terms which would alert them to messages from hate groups but said they had slipped through the net because they had been "so well-coded".

Mr Galanis added it was the first time in more than 90,000 message that something like this had happened.

He said none of their talent roster had threatened to leave Cameo since the story broke in the US on Monday.

And it's certainly sleek.

The new trophy which will be handed out to winners on 20 February has been revealed, as designed by celebrated architect Sir David Adjaye OBE.

The statue has been cast in black tinted solid glass and is rather eye-catching.

The designer said said his take on the trophy "is the manifestation of a great material forged in fire and shaped into the body of a woman."

"She is unique, and proportionally she is very different," he added.

"For me, designing the award was an opportunity to question and explore - what is the nature of perfection and imperfection, what is the notion of beauty."

Previous Brits have been designed by Tracey Eminem, Damien Hirst, Pam Hogg and Sir Peter Blake.

The controversial rapper appeared to get his wife Kim Kardashian-West to film him pinching a gold earring that had fallen loose on the catwalk during a Versace fashion show.

"They think they getting this back but we're about to steal this joint," he says to the camera, with a grin, before grabbing the item.

The footage found its way on to a Kim fansite after she shared it on her Instagram story.
