    NME

    The xxImage source, Getty Images

Just days after delighting their fans by smashing a high pressure pre-Radiohead Pyramid Stage slot at Glasto, The xx are now having to disappoint.

According to reports, the London indie-electro trio have been forced to cancel their upcoming three-day Night + Day festival at an epic waterfall in Iceland due to environmental issues.

Sampha, Robyn, Warpaint and others were also due to appear at the Skogafoss event from 14-16 July, but now the region of Skogafoss has been added to the country’s list of endangered areas.

A statement published in the Reykjavík Grapevine, external reads: “We regret to announce that Night + Day Iceland will not be going ahead.

"The location for the festival at Skógafoss has recently been added to the Environment Agency of Iceland’s list of endangered areas and there is simply not enough time for the promoters to ensure that the event will have no impact at all on the site.”

If you have a festival ticket don't worry as full refunds will apparently be offered but if you've already booked your flight to Iceland then we're afraid to say you'll have to find something else to do out there.

Perhaps whale watching (below), or a dip in a hot spring or geyser.
