Have a great time whatever you do tonight.

But if you're *37 or older, then maybe stay away from da club as you are too old.

That's not our view, it's the findings of a new survey, external.

You could always stay in and scroll down this page for the latest round of Thom Yorke v UK Artists for Palestine, Stormzy's big day at Oxford Uni, our Ariana - the new honorary Manc and another brilliant case of mistaken identity involving two actual musical Mancs and an actual knight.

Then, there's always the Wimbledon highlights too of course...

(*This means one of us still qualifies...)

  2. The new Hottest Record is...published at 15:39 BST 12 July 2017

    BBC Radio 1

    Bonzai with I Feel Alright.

She wrote it with her good pal Mura Masa on a recent 'writing camp' working holiday.

The singer (above right) tells Annie how another trip to Cuba made her want to throw "a few happier chords" in on the final version of the track.

Have a listen above. Annie clearly loves it.

Speaking of Mura Masa, he was also on Annie's show last night performing a live set, which included a Calvin Harris cover (we're not telling you which one though or who guest stars on it).

Double M - as we like to call him - added that he was a big fan of Annie's Hottest Record selection but as the track's producer he has to say that.

PS. Go easy with these hot records by the way will you. The George Michael remixes are apparently so hot that they burned Nile Rodger's faders.

There is still a couple of weeks to go until Annie Mac, Toddla T and Pete Tong need to dig out the Factor 30 and flip flops for Radio 1's annual jaunt to Ibiza.

But you can get a head start with some tips about which tracks will be grabbing clubbers by the Balearics and shaking them around this summer.

Here is the full list of nine and one below to get you started...

  4. The Strypes: Older, wiser but still kicking out the festival jamspublished at 15:09 BST 12 July 2017

    Paul Glynn

    The StrypesImage source, Getty Images

With festival season well upon us, The Strypes have offered a tactical insight into how to approach a set at a big live event.

"Just play the songs as quickly as possible".

All killer, no filler: Simple as that really.

Despite the early Saturday afternoon start, the young Irish rock 'n' rollers played to a "ferocious crowd" (according to bass man Pete) at BST in Hyde Park.

Guitarist Josh, who also lent his riffing skills to Paul Weller on his latest album, said the band don't mess around in fields full of strangers.

He said: "Normally at our shows we play for like one hour 30/45 minutes, so it's hard to fit all the songs into 30 minutes.

"We just try and do the songs as quick as possible. We're pleased as we played about eight and didn’t get cut off!"

Drummer Evan added; "We're not really ones to get nervous on stage."

(Not behind those shades at least below).

The Cavan lads burst on to the scene (and stage) in 2012 as bluesy 16-year-old prodigies but last month they released their third studio album; the Ethan Jones-produced Spitting Image.

At 21, they believe they've shed their early skin as the talented kids playing rock 'n' roll standards and are now letting their own original sound and voice shine through.

Josh added: "There was a big shout when we first came over to the UK about how young we were.

"That’s subsided now. We're three albums in and people are taking the band as the band - for the tunes."

They've smashed the scene, worked with their heroes and now developed their sound - all by the age of 21. At 32, I'm still waiting for any of those things to happen.

What direction are they heading in next then? I ask...

    "Scotland!" quips Josh. "For TRNSMT."

Add funny to that list too.

Check out their raucous-looking Scottish show above.

  5. Michael Jackson music to soundtrack Halloween specialpublished at 14:43 BST 12 July 2017

The songs of Michael Jackson are being used in a new animated Halloween special on US broadcaster CBS.

Titled Michael Jackson's Halloween (what else?), it will feature the voices of actors like Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons, Lucy Liu, Christine Baranski and Alan Cumming.

The hour-long programme will follow two millennials Vincent and Victoria, who meet on Halloween night and end up at a mysterious hotel located at 777 Jackson Street.

Big congrats to Paul Weller after his wife gave birth to their baby daughter at the weekend.

Ariana Grande has been made an honorary citizen of Manchester as a thank you from the city for the way she responded to the arena attack in May.

The city council passed the motion unanimously at a special meeting.

The singer was praised for returning to stage the One Love Manchester concert less than two weeks after the attack on her arena gig, which killed 22 people.

Manchester City Council leader Sir Richard Leese said it would have been understandable if she hadn't returned.

"But no - instead she, as an artist, a performer, was determined that she would not perform again until she had returned to Manchester to perform," he said.

In doing so, she brought comfort to thousands, she raised millions for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund and became the first patron of that fund."

He added: "And that's why I propose that Ariana Grande is made the first honorary citizen of the city of Manchester."

  17. Radiohead: We don't endorse Donald Trump but still play in USpublished at 10:12 BST 12 July 2017

    Thom YorkeImage source, PA

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has given perhaps his most eloquent and direct response yet regarding the band's controversial forthcoming gig in Israel next week.

The band will perform in Tel Aviv next Wednesday (19 July) but have been asked to cancel the gig by Artists For Palestine UK, who are calling for a cultural boycott of the country.

Artists for Palestine includes high profile figures such as Pink Floyd's Roger Waters and film director Ken Loach

Loach yesterday tweeted Yorke directly, declaring that the band "need to decide if they stand with the oppressed or the oppressor".

"The choice is simple" he added.

Yorke however clearly views the situation differently and was heard to repeatedly mutter "some people" after seeing Palestine flags waved in his band's direction at their TRNSMT headline set on Friday in Glasgow.

After previously noting (via Rolling Stone) that bandmate Jonny Greenwood "has both Palestinian and Israeli friends and a wife who's an Arab Jew,", the OK Computer singer has now responded directly to the I, Daniel Blake director's comments, saying: "Playing in a country isn't the same as endorsing its government".

Yorke goes on to state his belief that "music, art and academia is about crossing borders not building them..."

Whilst the gig will be done and dusted in just over a week's time, this debate is bound to run and run.

Just how much is the threat of copyright legal action affecting modern musicians.

Well, according to some industry insiders, artists are being advised not to state publicly who they're inspired by on their new music.

It follows on from the high-profile copyright infringement case in which US jurors ruled that Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams' Blurred Lines had copied Marvin Gaye's Got To Give It Up.

The Gaye family estate was awarded $7.3m (£4.8m) in damages.

Pharell and Robin are appealing against the ruling but its impact has had wide-reaching effects.
