  2. Will Smith - the rapper - is back and he has 'got the beast back'published at 15:26 BST 24 May 2018

Earlier this week we heard how big Willy was going to record and probably perform the official Fifa football World Cup song in Russia this summer.

We don't know how that will sound yet but the rapper/actor has teased his musical comeback in a new video. Will says he's "re-energised" and has "got the beast back", as he raps about reminding the world who he is, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and marrying Rihanna.

His last album; Lost and Found, came out in 2005.

Sadly as a sign of the times even Will Smith swears in this new one, so you'll have to find it for yourselves on his YouTube page.

Chuck Auerbach has announced his debut album; Remember Me, and it's coming out on his famous son's own label.

Dan's Easy Eye Sound will release his dad's music on 15 June - that's Father''s Day in the US which I think we all agree is quite a gift.

Dan played guitar and part-produced the record.

"After getting so much help over the years from my dad I was happy to lend a hand in the making of this record and return the favour,” he said.

    Awww.

The first single is, appropriately, My Old Man and it's above.

Grande said she should not be shamed "for a man's inability to keep it together".

Her full reply to user Elijah Flint reads, "how absurd that you minimise female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them, which by the way isn't the case (just Cinderella is about me).

"I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be.

  10. How to make it as a music journalistpublished at 12:20 BST 24 May 2018

    Mark Savage
    Music reporter, BBC News

Craig David speaks to music journalists on the red carpet of last year's Brit Awards

Writing and broadcasting about music is a dream job for a lot of young people (and a few failed musicians).

Legendary writers like Lester Bangs, Julie Burchill and Nick Kent helped shape the way we think about music and, in some cases, became as famous as the stars they wrote about.

Music journalism is a notoriously hard industry to break into - and, with magazine circulations in a downward spiral, an even harder one to make a living out of.

But there's still hope... As part of BBC Music's Biggest Weekend fringe, 6 Music's Elizabeth Alker hosted a debate on the future of music journalism, while offering tips on how to get a foothold in the industry.

Here's some of the advice for aspiring hacks.

  11. Pete Tong calls for more support for DJs during tribute to Aviciipublished at 11:56 BST 24 May 2018

    Pete Tong

Veteran club DJ Pete Tong has called for more emotional support for artists and DJs working in electronic music.

Speaking at the annual International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza, Pete called Avicii - who died aged 28 in April "one of the most talented and successful artists of his generation".

"The warp factor speed of his breakthrough fueled by the adrenaline rush and global connectivity of social media ensured that Tim’s feet never touched the ground," said Pete.

"Tim had no training, there was no apprenticeship...He’d not even had a proper job."

Pete called the Avicii - whose name was Tom Bergling - story "unique - it's the perfect storm in the sense that few will ever be that young and that talented, making the right music, at precisely the time when a world wide musical movement is about to explode."

He added: "Given they way it turned out I hope we never see it again - BUT his death has put the spotlight firmly back on our profession - The Life of a DJ ".

We caught up one half of The Last Shadow Puppets a wee while back to discuss the inspiration behind his forthcoming third solo album Coup De Grace (which translates as the final blow).

It's named after the Merseysider's favourite wrestling move but is a metaphor for something rather more emotional.

He told us how Lana Del Rey (below) and Jamie T helped him write his way through some serious "girl troubles" in his adopted hometown of Los Angeles.

  14. Christina and Demi fight the power in dystopian new music videopublished at 10:56 BST 24 May 2018

Christina Aguilera (l) and Demi LovatoImage source, Getty Images

Fall in Line sees Aguilera and Lovato fire out a warning to little girls everywhere as they are captured by oppressive forces and incarcerated in a metaphorical (and quite literal) prison.

It's a thinly-veiled attack on society's treatment of women and you can watch it below.

Luckily we can report there is a happy ending as they use the power of falsetto and a few sly digs to break out.

Miraculously they even make it back to the exact same spot where they were captured 20 years previously.

We always knew Christina was a Fighter, external.

The pair performed the track at Sunday night's Billboard Awards in Las Vegas.

The band's new album Love Is Dead, due out on Friday was reviewed in Stereogum.

Writer Chris DeVille called the album "frustrating" in his piece about "how difficult it is for once-trendy bands to transcend their moment."

"Love Is Dead is not a faceplant, but it’s definitely a stumble," he claimed.

Lauren is apparently not the sort of person to take this lying down and penned a scathing response to the review - a pretty rare things for an artists to do these days.

"If you don’t like the music, fine. If you don’t like the band, fine. If you don’t like me, fine / I feel you 99% of the time," she said on Twitter, external.

"But please don’t make this music and this record a symbol or scapegoat for something.”

DeVille's assessment of several songs which "function well enough as fight songs for #TheResistance" seemed to particularly grind Lauren's gears.

Morning all and welcome back to Music News LIVE.

Kev and Paul speaking. Please, tell us, how may we direct your call?

Perhaps with news of a family re-union for Liam Gallagher and an estranged relative (no, not that one), Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry reacts to an unfavourable album review, the dad of one of the Black Keys announces his debut album, Ariana Grande responds to a fan's "absurd" criticism of her break-up with rapper Mac Miller and a possible name change for Mark Ronson.

Plus new music and videos from Crystal Fighters, Lykke Li, Maggie Rogers and Panic! At The Disco.

Let's kick off today with a steamy snippet of the fourth single from former One Direction bad boy Zayn Malik's upcoming album.

We can't bring you the full song on MNL as Zayn does drop a few big swear words in the direction of his deceitful ex lover.

We'll put his bad language down as a crime of passion.
