Well we're not 100% sure that he's telling the whole truth here, but watch for yourselves above as Father John Misty reveals to a Sydney audience that he will mix his new album this week.

Misty, aka Josh Tillman, jokes that the forthcoming effort will be titled Pure Comedy (the name of his most recent album) 2.

"You're gonna love it!" he says.

Responding to a question from the crowd the singer said the album would be out next year.

    He said:

[We're] Cutting some new stuff and considering where to take it next. Blue & Lonesome caught us a little bit by surprise in that we figured it was something we had to do, but we didn’t expect the response that it got."

The 73-year-old added that while there are no plans at present to do a "volume two" of the blues covers record, that it "wouldn't' take a twist of the arm to do some more of that."

"It's such fun to record and there's plenty more where that came from.

"But I just think that actually the Stones will use it as a boost of their energy and feelings of viability in this day and age and see what we can come up with next."
