Chicago R & B/Soul singer Mavis Staples is back with a politically-charged new protest song Build a Bridge.

The track is set to appear on her forthcoming album If All I Was Was Black, which she has produced with Wilco's Jeff Tweedy

Mavis, who featured on Gorlliaz last album Humanz, sings:

"When I say my life matters // You can say yours does too // But I betcha never have to remind anyone // To look at it from your point of view"

  3. Liam Gallagher's High Flying Spud Peelers perform livepublished at 15:00 GMT 8 November 2017

    Liam GallagherImage source, PA

Liam took such a dim view of brother Noel's new scissor player live on Jools Holland, external that he's taken to suggesting comedy alternatives.

So far the highlights - both online and on the tv/radio - have included potentially having somebody sharpen a pencil, peel a banana and peel some spuds on stage for his own band.

In fact Liam put an official call out ahead of his gig in east London last night.

Naturally his fans did not let him down.

Watch this for unbelievable peeling technique down on the front row (below) as Liam brings new solo track Greedy Soul to an end.

We imagine both Gallaghers have seen the funny side of this ongoing scissor story. After all, Liam always was a chip off the old block...

  4. Watch the new fruits of Harry Styles' labourpublished at 14:45 GMT 8 November 2017

    Harry StylesImage source, Getty Images

Now, anybody seen throwing food while we watch this new music video for Harry's latest single (below) will be in big trouble.

Got it? Let's play together nicely.

The Styles Council (as we're now calling him) had to pause his London gig last week after being pelted with kiwis while playing the song of the same name.

Now the little scoundrels in his video obviously read about this in Music News LIVE and think that it's suitable behaviour around one of their pop idols.

But shouldn't been able to have their cake on eat it.

The impish grin at the camera says it's all for laughs.

It's all part of a spoof for his BBC special which airs tomorrow night at 20:00 GMT on BBC One.

The 25-year-old London singer, who follows bingo-caller Harry Styles in getting his own show, external, released his new album The Thrill of It All on Friday and is getting his thrills out of comedy capors like the one above.

We don't think the girls in the video above are in on the joke though.

In many ways, we think it's probably how Kurt Cobain would have wanted to be remembered.

Sitting on top of a bookshelf, wobbling his head every time there's a stiff breeze.

Toy manufacturers Funko have announced their latest collection of figures for 2018, which include three Kurts.

And some Nirvana fans are not exactly loving it, it seems.

  8. Chromeo display their wares in funky new tunepublished at 13:26 GMT 8 November 2017

Electrofunk duo Chromeo are back with a warm new tune to ease us into the cold winter months.

Juice sees a totally inappropriately-dressed Dave 1 and P-Thugg take a trip through what looks like a Californian orange grove.

It's tongue in cheek chorus; "You got the juice, that's why I keep pressing you, pressing you" tells you everything you need to know. It's funky and brilliant.

It's from their forthcoming fifth album Head Over Heels.

No, well lots of Americans bought it for sure as it ended up at number six in the Billboard chart selling 77,000 copies.

The cod-reggae single Stars Are Blind (above) even reached number five in the UK chart, despite a legal battle with the owners of the Kingston Town who sued for plagiarism.

Since then, she's carved out a career as a DJ who can apparently make up to $1m per gig, which would make her the highest paid female DJ in the world..

Now, a short 11 years later, she's recording the follow-up that no-one asked for and described it to Time magazine, external as "deep house, techno-pop and electro-pop."

    Consider yourselves warned.
